Universal remotes are new to me so I need some assistance. The mx has all the programming that I need but don't know how to do all of it. My understanding is that I can somehow get discrete codes that will turn my equipt. on/off with different commands rather than toggle them. Only have 2 pieces that need this. The Sony A2020 and Sony DVD changer. What do I need to get and how do you do it?
Remember, I am an absolute newbie so step by step would be great.
Thanks

Basically, you need another remote to add discrete codes that are not on the original remote. I outline the basic concept for someone else here:

Also click through to the link I posted to surfremote.com to see the steps (ignore the actual remotes they mention; those are old remotes models).
If you have a remote from a cable company, you might already have a remote made by UEI that can do this, so if you have one, or if you happened to have purchased a One for All or Radio Shack remote previously, tell me what model number it is to see if it will work.
The difficult part is finding the advanced codes for the discrete commands and checking to see if the UEI you have can generate those codes, so I can walk you through the steps if you are interested in trying this, and once you decide which remote you will use. Also, what are the make and model of the devices you want to control? A JP1 cable along with one of those remote would also make it much easier, since that will allow you to add new devices to the UEI remotes, but it may not be necessary.

Thanks for the reply. Will do some looking around and see what I can work out with your supplied resources. May end up back for more help.
Thanks again.
