The reason I ask is because I just saw Rob Zombie's Halloween today and I loved it and cannot wait to get this on Blu Ray, if possible!

Weinstein and warner co-did TMNT, but Warner retained distribution rights thus it being dual format.

According to the company information on IMDB, Weinstein had the non-US theatrical distribution rights while Warner had domestic rights. The DVD distribution rights are held by Warner Home Video, hence the BD/HD DVD release.

I *think* that rumor came about before the Paramount/Dreamworks announcement. Not sure sure if that will have any bearing on whether Weinstein goes neutral, switches sides, or remains HD DVD exclusive.

Correct. It was during Comic Con when the reps were talking about Grindhouse being on Blu-ray.
