Hi,

I am brand new to these forums, but I am finding a wealth of info here. Anyway, I am finding alot of info about recording programs via Firewire from a SA 8300HD and nothing about just plain old watching TV.

I just want to watch my HD on my widescreen LCD in true HD. I already have a Gigabyte TV tuner which looks okay (I use K!TV as the tuner software), but I really want to harness the HD capabilities of my cablebox and monitor.

Now I have hooked-up my box via firewire (at the tip from a friend) to try to watch TV but as many of you already know, XP pro does not recognize the box (it sees it though).

I need some advice from those of you with more experience in this arena on how to accoplish my "mission" without having to go out and by an HD Tuner Card.

Thanks in advance

Hook the STB directly to your PC monitor, it's about your only option if firewire doesn't work. There are no consumer level capture cards that can take the uncompressed output from your STB and process it.
