I need advice on the purchase of an HDMI cable, as I am looking at a run of 60'. There must be a lot of folks on here that have lengths of that and more for HDMI (1080p signal). Comments/responses please.

View Full Version : What brand of HDMI cables are you folks using for long runs (60' for my room)? I have a few 50' runs and recently I purchased a 131' from Monoprice that worked fine until we fed it through the conduit run. I'm looking at running 2 x 50' now for my long run with a booster / repeater at the 1/2 way mark. I may try another monoprice cable at 100' as well (one more time) before the 2 x 50' as they are only a couple hundred bucks for that length from them.(and a good quality cable - the 131' passed 1080P @ 60 with no issues when tested before running it through the conduit) Good luck Calvin mbgonzomd 09-02-07, 12:59 PM Blue Jeans 40' between Dish DVR and Oppo DVD player (which upconverts to 1080p). They are connected to a Panasonic ae1000U projector. Both have worked fine. I have also used a monoprice 35' that worked fine. WOLVERNOLE 09-02-07, 08:23 PM I followed up your helpful input with a look at AVS sponsor Blue Jeans, and they show a HDMI 1.3a, "CM rated" 60' cable for $158.75 It is listed as "Beldin" BJC Series 1 and it is 23.5 AWG. Anyone familiar with this "CM "rating? Essentailly, they claim/infer that a 60' run of this particular cable should be A-OK, fine...as they hav esuccess with up to about 100' with this stuff. I would like to NOT have to combine or have "booster." Any further input for me?;) RobZ 09-03-07, 01:05 AM My 50' 22Awg Monoprice did not work as well as two cables and a repeater. It would lose sync often. ctviggen 09-03-07, 08:38 AM The CM rating means that you can run it in a wall. It's an indication of fire resistance. You can google "cm rating" if you want more info. Also, what's not listed in these suggestions is the item to which the cable is connected. I'd imagine these all aren't the same in terms of how long a cable run can be at the output of the item. I ran a 50 foot monoprice HDMI in my wall from the rack to my projector (along with a 50 foot monoprice component cable). Works great. No issues. Most of you have had success with long runs.;) Steve from Yello 09-05-07, 09:59 PM I've had GREAT success with Monoprice CL2-rated 22awg HDMI cables over long runs (50 ft is my max right now). Gizmodo did a great shootout of various HDMI cables recently. Because the 50ft HDMI on monoprice are sold out Search 50ft HDMI, or item 160153809024 for example |
