Hi, does anyone know anymore about whether Gilliam's excellent "Tideland", which is showing as being released in Germany on Blu Ray in October, will be region free at all:

I also note that the German Amazon site lists Gilliam's "12 Monkeys" as forthcoming on Blu Ray and that was a Universal title in the States! So could be interesting.

2.35:1 is actually not Gilliam's preferred OAR on this. There was a UK site doing a direct interview with him after ThinkFilm messed up at put out the 1.78: 1 version, and at that point Gilliam mentioned the film should be 2.25:1.
EDIT: I found the link:

It's region free, same as other Concorde releases.

Hi, does anyone have the recent German blu-ray release of "Tideland" and are they able to confirm what extras are on the disc and how it looks?

BD is almost same as HD-DVD.
Was thinking of picking the BD up. Just curious for those who may own it. I know the german disc claims to be 2.35. But is it actually 2.25? Thanks

It's 2.35:1, which is the original theatrical ratio. Gilliam wanted to open the mattes to 2.25:1 for home video, which caused a host of problems because no studio could seem to follow that simple instruction.
Here's my review of the HD DVD. The Blu-ray should be identical:
