It was playing fine all lastnite. I go to play right now and get this. It just says that and nothing is happening. Anyone know whats wrong and how to fix it?

I saw many suggestions to reboot. However that did not help me at all. (I even placed the HDD in another 360) I deleted the beta and then downloaded it again. No trouble so far...

Every now and then I get it. I back out of the game and get back in until it works. Sometimes it takes a few tries.

I am getting the same message I am just going to power cycle and see if that works. Just wanted to see who was getting it here as well.

I got my token Friday and finally downloaded it this morning. I've tried powercycling, redownloading, etc and all I get is downloading game settings..... frustrating.

The word on the COD4 boards on the game site is the servers are maxed and you just need to wait and try in a few minutes maybe some people will quit. We will see how that goes.

I haven't got it since Thursday. Everything is good now.

Do this:

When it's stuck bring up the sign in/out screen by hitting the middle X button
Sign out
You'll see a message stating "You need to sign in to play the beta"
Now hit the big X again and sign back in!
Get back into the beta and you'll be good to go.

I just left the downloading game settings message up for about 20 minutes and surfed the web during that time. I came back with the message gone and ready to rock.

BTW .. this is the greatest game ever and its only a beta.

Have had it happen once, just let it sit there "downloading game setting", and about 4 minutes later (which feels like 20.....traffic light syndrome) the available games popped up.

I wouldnt say it was the greatest game ever but it is really good nice combo of Halo 2 MP and CSS realisticness. It makes for a great game.

i got that screen, i hit the guide button, sign out, then the game tells me to sign in, and then it worked fine.

:(

Some of you have been receiving the "Downloading Game Settings" message for extended periods of time (more than 30 seconds). This is caused by Packet Loss, which means a file / data was lost as the server was sending it to the client.

A quick fix for this is:

- Backing out to the Dashboard and restarting the Beta.

You may receive it more than once, but don't worry, just back out again and restart.

However, I wanted to let you all know that we are aware of the issue, it has already been fixed in the main game, and we are working on getting an update out which will fix this in the beta as well.

None of those "back out and restart" suggestions worked for me. The only thing that did was just letting it sit there until it did its thing, which took about 8 minutes. Since then, it hasn't done it again.

Mine has been giving me that error for like three hours now wow. This is not fun :(.
