Got the three red rings. Contaced Microsoft, they are replacing it. Curious, anyone have one repaired in the last few weeks? What turn around times are you experiencing? Rep said about 6 weeks, brother got his back in 3. Curious as to what some of you experienced recently. Especially with Halo 3 coming in a few weeks. :(

I got mine back a month ago. Turnaround for me was 4 weeks.

My brother just got his back on Thursday, took 13 total days to get it back. He got a brand new one with the new heatsink on it (man. date of 8-16-2007)

Just under three weeks for me. I need to check the build date on mine - it's a lot quieter than I remember. Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed!

We can't all swap out our defective systems at Best Buy.
But back on topic, 360 gave the three red lights on the 10th, box sent to my house the 16th, shipped it out the same day and too bad that fell on a Friday. Arrived at the service center on the 22nd and on the 31st checked the service support site and new serial number issued made in August 2007. Should be here on Friday... well at least I'm hoping.

I'm on my 9th 360 (yes... I said 9) since launch, and except for the one time they lost my returned unit for two months, I've never had more than a 14 day turnaround. Last return for me was two months ago though, so I'm not sure how fast they are now.

Is it awful that I want my Premium to break again so I can get one of the new units with the GPU heatpipe and HDMI? I have a Core system I keep in the closet to play when my Premium dies.

From the time I called MS till the time I received my repaired xbox was 16 days. I do live in Texas where the repair center is located so maybe that's why I got mine back so fast. Shipping probably only took a day getting there and back.

From the day I called MS till the time I received it back was 24 days. build date is 8-7-2007. No HDMI port though.
Hope it lasts

Good luck

that's not a proper fix, i didnt swap mine out, i just fixed it, now it's fixed for good, i'm not gonna send mine in, wait 6 weeks, to just have to send it back in a few months later.

x-clamp removal FTW. not a single hiccup or freeze since i fixed it in march.

Thanks everyone, looks like I will most likely miss out on Halo 3 launch or it will be cutting it close.

I'm actually debating renting a unit from Blockbuster or something so I can at least play some Halo 3 (been REALLY looking forward to this). Hmmmm, not sure.

Called mine in at the beginning of August. Recieved box about a week later. Shipped broken xbox. Recieved confirmation that a refurb was shipped three days after they recieved my old one. Recieved repaired xbox by end of third week of Aug. Very quick turnaround.

About 2 1/2 weeks altogether. (this last go around)

Is it awful that I want my Premium to break again so I can get one of the new units with the GPU heatpipe and HDMI? No, its not awful at all. They sent me a 360 with a manufacture date of June '06 so I anticipate it melting down before too long anyway. Hopefully the next one MS sends out will be the newer model.

Two weeks for me last month (August).

4 weeks for me. Just got a "new" system back yesterday and it was dead on arrival. I actually believe it was an old one with a new sticker slapped on it. Manufacture date of 7-30-07. It didn't smell new and it was scratched on top. They need to be hit a with a class action lawsuit. Now they are sending me a new box, eventhough I explained I obviously already had one because I JUST got it back. Asked them to just email me a shipping label. He said they can't do that. He acted like it was the most genius idea he'd ever heard of though. I wouldn't be surprised if these morons actually haven't thought of that scenario yet though. I'm just glad I got a PS3 last month. I'm now buying ALL cross platform games for it. It actually works and doesn't sound like a jet engine in my living room.

Took ~4 weeks for mine to come back. I got it to them within 10 days. Status said "Received at Service Center" about a week and a half. I decided to call and get a status and by some strange coincidence, they had just shipped it out. They changed the status that hour. Sucks cuz I feel like if I would have called the first day it got there, they might have shipped it out earlier. Mine was an Elite though so I was wondering if they might not have had any refurbs at the time to send them out. March 07 build on the Elite. Don't know if it's a refurb or a new but old build system.

had a coworker have his back in 4 days, it was his 5th replacement. I did not get the same service, regular 3day ups. Sent it back yesterday, i'll guessing October as a return date.

I've read about that, seems to do the trick but the problem on my end is I was one of the unfortunate ones who got sucked in by the Microsoft extended warranty for a period of 3 years. It was only $50, that's a game basically. Anywho, with the added RROD that makes it covered for the next 6 years so if I wanna keep that warranty going then I'll have to play nice and not pry it open.

My xbox was getting the ring of death randomly. Whenever it didn't receive that, it would lock after being on for more then a minute.

Shipped in today...i'll update when it returns.

It took 5 weeks for me. M$ ended up giving me a brand new console. I paid $250 for it on Ebay. :D

I shipped it off in the beginningish of August and got it back yesterday. Add about a week from the time you make the call to the time they get the pre-paid box shipped to you, too.

My Elite died today with 3 rings just after downloading the Bioshock update. I was told at least 3 to 4 weeks.

I should have bought it from Gamestop and got their warranty like I did on my last two dead 360s and I would be playing right now. I just had to have it when it first came out and only Wal-Mart had it locally at the time. Got it back at the end of April and it was just made in March.

I just got Airborne too. Oh well. Still have the PS3 and Wii to fall back on but will miss the 360 for sure during the time it's gone.

August 10: MS ships box
August 15: I receive it and send it out
August 21: MS receives it

Since then I've just been waiting.

Going on 1 week now. Still haven't received the box from MS. Definitely not getting this back in time fro Halo 3. Luckily I have the PS3 to hold me over for game playing.

It was a total of 29 days from when I first emailed xbox service to when I got the system back. I mailed it in the day after I received the coffin from UPS. It was one I had gotten cheap on ebay to repair myself but since the security sticker was still intact, I mailed it in. It's build date is later than the one I sent in which is good. But it has a samsung dvd-rom. The noise level is not bad though. All in all, a painless experience since I all ready have a couple other 360's. They did include the one month xbox live card.

I just sent mine in, arrived at the service center Aug 28th. we will see...

Update, just checked the service site, and my S/N has changed, but it still reports "device received." So it looks like I will be getting a refurb here at some point, hopefully they slapped some hdmi on it. More importantly, once it gets here I will be able to play Bioshock :D

When 360 launched there was an article somewhere about watter cooling it. They did a complete tear down and evaluation of components. They made specific note of the thermal tape used on the heat sinks and thought that it would cause problems down the line for MS. While i cant specifically recommend to you all that had problems with your system that you do this mod i will say that i decided to void my warranty and take a chance. I followed the disassembly instructions they provided and got rid of the thermal tape that is used at the factory. In its place i used Arctic Silver thermal grease. I have an original launch system use by me and my 2 kids for many 1000s of hours of play and have not had a single problem with heat. In fact since i did it i have never heard the fans run above low. Maby i got lucky maby not i don't know but i do know if it dies i will have no help from MS. But seeing some guys are on their 9th system i feel very lucky so far.

I called for service on July 9 and I should receive it back today. I am in Canada so my turn around is a little over 2 months.

Finally got the box. Have to give them credit, they send very specific instructions and everything you need (its the least they can do). Now just hoping Microsoft can turn it around quickly!!
