Nowadays, at least to me, it seems like most normal folks out there only really care about having a decent or good TV, LCD, plasma, what have you. Generally with surround sound systems, people just kind of look for the all in one situation.
But when I think about how different the sound will be when I upgrade my system to be totally HD, I'm just as excited about that as the picture quality.
Whenever someone asks me if I could choose between being blind or deaf, I always go for blind. Beauty is pretty sweet, but nothing as as beautiful as music to me. Nothing. Sounds, voices, what have you, sound has always been at the top of my senses. Maybe that's because I have ****** eyesight and have to wear contacts or glasses, but my hearing is that of a hunting dog.
To know that in a few months, I'm going to go from standard quality to high definition sound, excites the HELL out of me. I'm gonna have to watch all my HD DVDs all over again, and hell, I'll have to watch the 6.1 tracks on my SD's, too.
That being said, I've never been one for needing the best of the best for sound. Or anything, for that matter, I've always been a middle of the line kind of guy. I have a top of the middle of the line TV, and I'll be fine with a top of the middle of the line sound system. I don't need to spend thousands and thousands to be happy. If that makes me a non-audiophile, whatever, I care not. All I know is that if it makes my ears happy, I'll be happy.
When I go to see a movie in a theater and the picture's a little soft or anything like that, I'll deal with it. If the sound is messed up in any way, shape or form, my ass is out there telling the manager to fix it.
There's just something about sound that's always made me quite happy. I'm sure there are plenty of others who feel that way. I just kinda wanted to talk about it for a little bit.
