Can you suggest some good references on the subject? Thanks! :) foxeng 09-02-07, 08:36 PM ARRL Antenna Book http://www.arrl.org/catalog/index.php3?category=Antennas%2C+Transmission+Lines+%26+Propa gation EscapeVelocity 09-03-07, 07:44 PM Thanks foxeng. Is that the be all and end all of recommended books on the subject? Certainly there are other good works on the subject, no? Falcon_77 09-03-07, 07:58 PM I recently picked up this book. From what I've seen, it should be enough to keep most anyone busy for quite a while. I could spend years reading it... I also have an older version of the Practical Antenna Handbook by Carr, which is smaller, but perhaps it has expanded since then. mntmst 09-03-07, 08:36 PM Some free ebook links http://www.rfzone.org/free-rf-ebooks/ NightHawk 09-04-07, 05:34 AM Some free ebook links http://www.rfzone.org/free-rf-ebooks/ Nice link! It went right to the favorites list. dr1394 09-04-07, 06:32 AM Thanks foxeng. Is that the be all and end all of recommended books on the subject? Certainly there are other good works on the subject, no? The be all and end all book on the topic of antennas is of course, "Antennas" http://www.amazon.com/Antennas-John-D-Kraus/dp/0072321032/ Ron kenglish 09-04-07, 07:35 AM http://www.amazon.com/Antenna-Engineering-Handbook-Richard-Johnson/dp/007032381X******pd_sim_b_2/002-4145178-5423230 And, if you like math and charts and graphs: http://stinet.dtic.mil/oai/oai?&verb=getRecord&metadataPrefix=html&identifier=AD0687820 EscapeVelocity 07-06-08, 05:40 PM Any other recommendations? Maybe something a bit simpler for the mathematically challenged. Thanks. rabbit73 07-07-08, 07:07 PM Any other recommendations? John. EscapeVelocity 07-08-08, 12:08 AM Do you recommend a newer or older ARRL Antenna book? mclapp 07-08-08, 12:27 AM Do you recommend a newer or older ARRL Antenna book? They both have many things the same and some different but the basics are all about the same in either. Also check out this site http://www.cebik.com/ it's has alot about antennas of all types along with modeling and backs up the modeling with the hows and whys. I havent gotten an ARRL Antenna Book yet, but I plan on it. mntmst 07-20-08, 04:37 PM freebe http://www.tech-systems-labs.com/navy-warfare.htm http://www.eehomepage.com/index.php EscapeVelocity 08-22-08, 04:39 PM I have found that the Radio Shack book is excellent for the newbie. With some discussion of theory, but rather focused on practical advice. It contains sections on FM, Ham Radio, CB, and Television. Highly recommended for the newbie. Radio Shack Antennas: Selection, Installation, and Projects EscapeVelocity 08-22-08, 04:55 PM So far, I would recommend the Radio Shack book, if you just wanted to dip your toes in the water and get some solid installation and mounting advice, plus some antenna types and style basics. And the Carr book: Practical Antenna Guide, for a very thorough accounting of antennas, but focussed more on Ham Radio. There is some math in there, but you dont have to pay it too much mind and you can still get a lot of good out of this book. Will track down the ARRL Antenna Book, and give it a go as well. videobruce 08-23-08, 08:55 AM Jamming to Signal (J/S) Ratio - Constant Power (Saturated) Jamming Burn-Through / Crossover Range Support Jamming Jamming to Signal (J/S) Ratio - Constant Gain (Linear) JammingMight be valuable for dealing with those HOA's. ;) mattdp 08-23-08, 09:44 AM I really like a book by Dick Glass entitled Improving TV Signal Reception: Mastering Antennas and Satellite Dishes (http://books.google.com/books?id=W3piAAAACAAJ&dq=mastering+tv+antennas+and+satelite+dishes+dick+glass&ei=sBOwSLnTNYzQjgHS__0b&client=firefox-a). I found it at my local library and have been meaning to get a copy. While it's 20 years old, the concepts are still the same, and it's written from a pro's perspective. It's very practical and filled with plenty of real world examples. |
