Hi all,
I have painted my ceiling mat black. I thought this would help contrast from my projector and help suck you into the picture. Problem is I can see light reflections on my ceiling extending from above the screen about 8 feet towards the seating area. I have low ceilings, about 8 1/2 feet high. What can I do to reduce this affect? I thought of the following ideas:
1. Install a back carpet covering in the area boardered by molding.
2. See if I could find black velvet wallpaper. Or have an accousting pannel built the approx size and have it installed?

I am looking for the most effective, but least costly way to reduce the light. Any thoughts?

thx,
Jim

You would have to make it. Get some of the black velvet, make a wood frame to stretch it tight and hang it.

What brand paint did you use?

Foam board might be a good choice. It is lightweight and easy to cut w/o power tools. Just wrap with your choice of blackhole material and hang.

You could try a flat black paint as well, otherwise, velvet type black fabric would probably would be your best bet.

Velvet is the closest to a black hole you will get ala Darinp's theater. It is disorienting in fact.

Another good choice is black head liner like in your car? also since it has foam backing it is a bit easier to work with gluing it to the ceiling.
