View Full Version : Buena Vista European Releases
p.glover 09-03-07, 02:48 AM Why do they keep screwing us over, Wild hogs us release is 24 bit audio but the uk release is 16 bit and also missing the audio commentary, they also cost double the price of the us releases. Can't see why they can't keep the same audio:mad:
MSmith83 09-03-07, 03:12 AM Interesting, I had no idea they were doing that. I did know that Disney quite often mislabels bit-depth specifications on their covers.
My UK import BDs of The Rock, Con Air, and Crimson Tide all have 16-bit PCM tracks even though their back covers say 24-bit. Now it makes me wonder if the eventual US releases will have 24-bit PCM tracks. Whatever the situation, I'm not buying these movies again.

This is VERY likely as all BV 24bit PCM tracks on US releases have been downconverted to 16bit for the UK.

Most these movies are post 1999, witch master are 16bits, 24bits Movie master is a 'new' thing right now, but it was very very rare back then..

Yes, they are older. However, these movies were big budget productions, so original 24-bit audio masters don't seem far-fetched for these particular movies.
Also, there must have been a reason that Disney stated 24-bit audio on the back covers. This tells me that 24-bit masters exist for these movies.

Nope ain't there, don't know what Buena Vista are upto they keep listing commentarys that ain't there, also there is no excuse with Wild Hogs, Enemy of the State etc as the us release does have 24 bit PCM. Crimson Tide, The Rock, Con Air i am sure when released in the usa will have 24 bit pcm
well at least you're getting movies like Cars and Meet the Robinsons a month earlier

either that or the artists who did the back cover "copied and pasted" from another movie's sheet. That's just as likely.

This is why I have a Region A BD player and import everything from the States. Europe almost always gets crappy treatment from the main studios.
and it looks like Europe is getting Pirates: At worlds End sooner too, as it's listed for 11/22/2007
So much for NA getting movies sooner, I think we got past that over the years.
MovieSwede 09-05-07, 08:21 AM It can actually be enjoyable to watch movies with 16bits PCM. Its not the end of the world if movies dont have 24bits 96khz 7.1 track.
Stop reading the specs and just enjoy the movies.
