Well, I've been working on my basement for sometime now (see here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=758891)), and now it is finally time to start planning out the theater.

The actual theater room is about 21 feet deep by 13 feet wide. I plan on having a 2x3 seating configuration, viewing as large a scope screen as I can. I'll have to see how the $$$ are to determine if I can get a GOOD 1080p PJ, otherwise I might just wait a few years and see what's going on then.

I will be utilizing the tried and true dbl rock + GG method for isolation, and I have used 24" on center Ultrasteel studs for the framing work. I have one oversized return with two oversized supplies for HVAC work. The supplies have used flex tubing with a few bends in it for noise reduction.

As you can see below, I have a five-walled theater. The back wall that is set at an angle I have planned to acoustically treat using ceiling to floor OC703. I will also be using a 8" soffit around the theater for use as a bass trap (like Sandman has done). I am a little concerned about the angled wall. I really needed to break up the other side of it, which would have been an obtuse looking wall in my game room. Is there anything else I need to do?

Electrically, I also plan to use a Graffik Eye for light control, and tie everything together with a Harmony remote. I will be using LED puck lighting for wall/screen effects, and will use the ol' rope light and crown moulding trick onto a star field ceiling above the seating area.

The jury is still out on equipment, but I am leaning towards a Denon/Klipsch setup with maybe a Hsu sub.

So, all this said, what are your initial reactions? Anything I need to look for/watch out for/stop and put the pneumatic brad nailer down for? I'm hoping to get an audio consultant out before I start getting to far into the construction. Sound advice is always a good thing!

Here's a visio mockup up what I'm dealing with. The second row will be on some kind of riser. If I were better at sketchup, I'd be showing you guys that. However when I do that, it looks like a 4th grader went to town with markers, a shoe box, some scissors, and some Elmer's.

Are the rear speakers going to be right next to each other above the door? I think only THX certified receivers recommend the rears right next to each other...so take that into consideration when plotting out the equipment. (You probably already know that, but I thought I would throw it out there.)

Also, you may want to think about shifting the double doors over a little to create a better line of sight from the bar. It may be nice when entertaining (sporting events) to be able to open it up for the bar customers to see the screen also.

Just some thoughts. Good luck with the build.

I got you covered on both points. If I don't feel like paying the THX premium, I'll spread the rears out a bit. It might get a bit tricky with that angled wall, but that's what Audyssey and 3rd party help is for.

And the doors are already set, but I have a spot for a flat screen mounted on the wall beside the bar. I'm trying to do this without any I-wish-I-woulda's.

Sweeeeeet. I got the flatscreen-in-the-bar thing going also...at least I have it wired for one. Just need to find some extra capital for that purchase:D
