so i finally got my refund check from microsoft for the 3 red light repairs for 139.00 and i was thinking about upgrading my current 360 to one that has HDMI since i have a 1080p tv
so my question is will it make a big PQ difference is it worth the extra 200 plus the 139.00 to upgrade ?

No. Buy some games instead.

No. Buy a backup 360 instead, since your so-called "fixed" unit is going to fail again soon...very soon.

It definitely WONT make a huge difference. Probably the two things I noticed going from HD component to HDMI was:

1) The colors werent as vibrant. But thats in the settings. Its almost like HD component was set to make the colours unnaturally vibrant, sort of like a cartoon. I've always felt that way. When switching over to HDMI, everything seemed more natural. I can always adjust my tv to make the colours pop out like again if I want.

2) DVD upscaling is the bomb. As you can tell by my signature.. I'm absolutely satisified with the picture quality DVD provides on my 50" 720P plasma. I still see little need for HDDVD or Bluray. The upscaled DVD picture from HDMI will definitely save you money in the long run as its great *fix* until the HDDVD/BR war finishes, and a preferred format is agreed upon.

My advice to you would be:

1) Pocket the $139 and save it for future games or accessories. Hell Halo is only 3 weeks away.

2) If you upgrade, dont upgrade to another premium. Definitely not worth the trade + cash for HDMI.

3) If the upgrade bug does bite hard, go for the Elite. You will get the most important upgrade a larger harddrive, HDMI, and the infamous optical dongle ($50 value). I'd imagine a used Premium will still fetch between $200-225 at the right stores. Ad your $139 check to that.. and the Elite definitely seems like a good path to go.

I agree with Daekwon, go Elite or stick with your premium. I am guessing that you current TV does not have VGA?

my tv does have VGA i have a Sony SXRD but from what i have heard the VGA connection on this model of tv is not very good

i think everyone convinced me to stick with what i have for now and maybe during the holidays there if be a really good deal on an elite and will make the jump then
