Hey everyone, I'm new here and seems like this is the best forum i've seen in forever. Been lurking around for the past week or so after registering...

My question to you all is, I have a PS3 and Im also wanting to get a 360. I'm not trying to just ship or anything, both are great systems with their own pro's and con's. With that said, I'm wanting to go with the elite which has the 120gb HD. Is there anything I should advoid between the dates manufactured. I understand that the 360 has a bad problem with the ring of death, Want to try and avoid that with purchacing a newer model but how can I be so sure of what I'm getting? Is it something that I just have to take a chance with? Also, does the elites have HDMI hook-ups? I've done a lil bit of searching and found that the pro pack has only the standard a/v hook-ups? Thanks!

So those should already be on the shelves, correct? Also, would it still be benificial to buy the intercooler???

No, just drawbacks.

Elites have been in very short supply until the recent price drop. So any Elite that you find in a store is pretty much guaranteed to be a newer model with the new heatsink.

And yes, the Elites have HDMI (as do the new premiums).

And yes, if you're looking for a gaming console...the 360 is so far ahead this generation I'm seriously starting to feel bad for Sony (and yes, I've owned a PS3 since launch).

Welcome to the best forum on the net!:D

The Elite does have the HDMI connection. Others on here can help you as far as lot numbers and such. I am going to throw mine (not literally) in a closet so not to concerned with noise. I also got the unit at Costco so if I get the rings of death, back it goes.

Oh also...if you're so inclined, there is a perforated tab in the cardboard on the 360 box. If you ask the store for permission...I'm pretty sure that lifting that tab will give you the manufacturing date.

you don't really need to ask anyone for permission to do that.
