View Full Version : Thread for ALL Press Releases

I suggested to the mods that we have a thread which would be used as the place to post all PR material instead of each receiving its own thread.

This applies especially to PR that adds no new info but contains potentially inflammatory material, such as (just as an example :)) proclamations of victory or doom.

No opinions should be added by the poster and no replies should be made regarding the content of the PR. These are the 2 requirements for this to work to the forum's and our benefit.

The benefits to us:

1. Multiple threads which add no new info are reduced to a bunch of posts in one thread.

2. Fighting reduces as aggravation caused by PR can be severe and new threads do attract more attention.

3. We can instead argue about stuff that does matter to HDM :)

If we self-regulate on this, it can make this sub-forum more readable.

thanks

Yes I think we should try it: there are a number of separate press release threads popping up and it would be good to try to keep them in one thread

Good idea :)

Greg, what you say is true, but...

The reason I suggested this was cos firstly, PR puff-pieces should not clutter up the news thread and we do have a problem with PR based threads all over the place, which only cause aggravation.

The mod liked the idea and asked me to start this. If it does not work, I guess they will shut it down.

I reiterate, this thread is only for the PR that adds no new info and/or is inflammatory. Such PR should definitely not go into the News or into its own thread.

Imo

Addendum: With CEDIA coming up, we can expect a bunch more PR...

Well, actually that's what we have been doing for months - see the "News" thread.

If you want to separate the PRs saying "we sold 15000% more! The competition blows!" etc etc... That's okay.

^^

Yup, that is the kind of PR I have in mind for this thread. That kind of PR does not belong in News, as doesn't the BDA saying they have won or some reporter saying hd dvd has won.

But since it is of interest to members, let's have one place for it... Imo
