Want a cheap HDTV for my 360 and was wondering if anyone has this or knows if it will work fine. It's a Sharp LC-26AD5E.

Baught a HDTV once before and the picture quality was too dark. No matter How high I set the contrast and Brightness.

Any replies would be helpful. Thanks.

Contrast 1200:1

might have the same problem with that tv

find something more in the 10000:1 area

Hmmm, really? I can only afford a cheap TV, so Im guessing a 10000:1 contrast ratio is out of the question. My last HD was a Hannspree 32" XV32 with a contrast ratio of 750:1, So I dunno. I know nothing about HDTV's.

Contrast ratio numbers are all nonsense. Pay absolutely no attention to them.

I had that same Hannspree TV, and never found the picture to be too dark. Overall the PQ wasn't very good, but it was not too dark.

Well, I just hope the brightness is OK.

On my old HDTV Things were pretty dark. For example, on Gears, when Dom frees Marcus From Prision. I couldnt see anything except a few outlines where the light was shining on the wretchers. Everything else was almost pitch black.

How did you have it connected?

Component. I then connected via VGA, which kinda solved the darkness problem sort of, but the games didnt play smooth.

You cant turn the brighness up in the menu of the TV to make it brighter? On my LCD there is a lamp brightness adjustment . You wont find anything that small with a 10k:1 contrast or in that price range. I would check to make sure there isnt any game lag with that TV online before I bought I know early in the 360s life there were reports of TV lag when playing online where you would actually be about a second behind the action on some sharp and samsung TVs. You could also check out olevia and vizio if you want bigger tv for the same $$$.

I moved from the Hannspree to a Vizio plasma. It was $250 more, but it's ten inches bigger and the picture quality is just vastly better.

And I actually got a very good resale value on the Hannspree, surprisingly.

Remember that there is a difference between Dynamic and Static contrast ratios. A Dynamic Contrast ratio of 7,000:1 equals maybe 1,300:1. I'm not sure of the exact conversion but it's something like that. I noticed computer LCDs almost always advertise the static whereas TV LCDs usually advertise the Dynamic. Also a contrast ratio of 15,000:1 will almost be unnoticable from say a 6,000:1. You really need to get up to like 100,000:1 to really notice the difference I think.
