Hi -- have a URC-200 with RF extender. It works only sporadically and drives me nuts. Two questions: 1) To fix it, should I simply use an IR extender -- can I use an IR extender with this remote? 2) Should I ditch this remote for a comparable (price, features) remote with an IR extender perhaps?
Current Set-Up: Elite 1140HD, Denon 2307ci, AIM 8 ones, Velodyne Vx-10 sub, some crappy DVD player :)
Thanks for your help.

Also, a little more info -- the equipment is all in a cabinet so there is no line of sight which is why I used the RF. Sometimes it works perfectly while other times it stinks (in particular, the Denon does not turn on). An IR repeater would be fine I guess but curious if it will work with no problems with the URC 200 (or could I experience the same problems). Thanks.
The urc-200 will probably communicate directly with the receiver from most IR extender sets. It may not pick up as much interference as the mrf100? Give it a try.

This may sound a little strange, but try wrapping the MRF100 in aluminum foil and use the emmiters. I use an MRF250 which is prone to RF interference. After an equipment move, I was having the same problems. Then I read over on remotecentral that someone wrapped theirs in foil and the problems went away. I tried it, and it worked. It's now about 99% reliable. You might also try moving the MRF100 around (as far away from the components as possible). I know it sound whacky, but it worked for me. Wouldn't hurt to try. Hope it works.

I had the same problem with the same remote and MRF100. Sometimes if you move the MRF a few inches to a different spot, it becomes more responsive. But ultimately, because I got a second dvr, use of the MRF became impractical because it was controlling the dvr in the other room, so I got the IR extender called Audioplex Stealth kit from Fry's for $180. It's only $134 on Parts Express. It works really well with my URC 200, much better than the MRF, which I kept but I plug it in only when I am outside and want to control the music that's playing outside.
