I bought the Nextcom R5000HD modification about 18 months ago. I paid $550. for the honor of them adding their magic board to my 6000 receiver. I used it happily until about a month ago, then I inquired about moving my mod to my StarChoice receiver, from my 6000 receiver.
Imagine my surprise, shock, in fact, when I was cooly informed that the change would in fact be an "upgrade" and that they would be happy to take ANOTHER $400. from me, PLUS my old receiver, card, and remote.
Part of the reason I bought this mod was that Nextcom advertised prominently that they could move the mod from receiver to receiver for a "nominal fee".
I don't consider $400. PLUS my old equipment, nominal.
I would encourage anyone considering the Nextcom mod to NOT do it. You will be treated like a fool by them if you do.

They cannot move the unit from a dish 6000 to a star choice receiver because they are two different species. They're not even in the same genus.
If you got a new 6000 to replace a broken one or possibly bought a new receiver of a similar type it would be no sweat, but what you have is a (somewhat antiquated) DVB receiver for Dish and BXV.
Star Choice uses Digicipher II, a completely different transmission method. Their equipment is proprietary and made by Motorola. It's actually more similar to digital cable boxes than it is to a DVB receiver, and it's a takeoff of the 4DTV system.
The bottom line is that the "guts" are not the same. You basically need a new board and new internals to make it work.
Hence, it's not "moving" the system from one to the other. Most of the internals are going to be different. You're buying a new system and they're cutting you something of a deal, so be grateful.
What Nextcom does is both unique and very useful. I'm amazed that they have been able to develop a product that can do all that theirs can and work so well in general.
You get what you pay for which is why Nextcom mods cost a few hundred. It'd be a bargain at twice the price though. (NOTE TO NEXTCOM: Please don't take this as a suggestion to double your price)

Are you guessing or are you speaking from knowledge and facts of R5000's install hardware needs ?

That really sucks.
I don't consider $400 and your old equipment.........a nominal fee either:o
I hope Nextcom would at least give you a reach around:p
unforgently SageTV and Nextcom mod are the best combo around, and I 'm happy I had my 211 done. I guess you have to be 100% sure you are sticking with the hardware you getting mod'ed.
Maybe going from a 6000 to a 211 dish ird will be cheaper
*Also thinking on getting my SC 505 done
