I have used Directv for about 8 years but I am beginning to get fed up with their compression or whatever they do to the Hi Def signals to converve band width.

Time Warner is the cable provider in my area. They bought out the remains of Adelphia who I left long ago because the terrible condition of their equipment and service is general. TW seems to be doing a good job of upgrading the service.

Does anyone use Time Warner cable that can give me some idea of the quality of the HD picture and service in general. They have some speacial going on for new customers and by getting that and bundling it with my Hi Speed cable I can save quite a bit of money. I just didn't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire.

Any help appreciated.

Bill

Check the local reception forum for a thread for your DMA to get insight on how TWC is in your area. Quality can very from system to system.

You may want to hold on to D* a little longer also to see how the new MPEG4 sats pan out. There should be no reason for HDLite when they go online. By the way, they aren't conserving bandwidth, they don't enough with the old sats to go full resolution without overcompressing the signal to death, instead they cut back the resolution and compress it less.
