The "up to $200" part is a concern. I thought it would be a certain amount based on which model you buy, but the form does not have anything like that. It seems the rebate may only cover the delivery/installation fee you actually paid up to a maximum of $200 if you paid that much or more.

The rebate doesn't have any tricks like that. Its up to $200 for every model. This works for install and/or wallmount. Therefore, if you pay extra for "white glove" delivery/install then you can probably submit that receipt. Otherwise, wall-mount costs must be invoiced by a 3rd party installer.

I got in on the last go-round of the rebate and was pleasantly surprised to get my $200 rebate check back in just over 6 weeks from submittal.

I wasn't saying there are any tricks. What I meant was if you get free delivery from say Circuit City, it seems like you would get nothing for a rebate. Or if you had Best Buy deliver it for $50, you would get a $50 rebate. So you won't get $200 unless you spent $200 (or more) on delivery/installation.

That is how I am understanding it.

This rebate is only redeemable for Panasonics purchased directly from Panasonic.com, correct?

I just ask because there are other dealers that have great sales right now on Panasonic plasmas. It would be incredible if this rebate also applied towards installation of a Panasonic bought at one of these other retailers.

Is delivery really covered? I thought it was just for installation. Now if you can convince the installer to deliver for free and include that cost in the installation then I could see it working.

What did you submit as your installation? The Panasonic page says:

"White Glove Delivery - A delivery agent will contact you within 7-10 business days to schedule a delivery appointment. Delivery can be scheduled 8am-5pm Monday through Friday within a 4 hour window. This service includes inside delivery to the room of your choice, unpacking, plugging in (to include one cable hook-up), and debris removal. Set up and installation is not part of this service."

I can only go by the rebate form, but it says "1. To receive up to a $200 rebate on installation fees you must purchase a select Panasonic Plasma HDTV from 9/1/07 through 10/31/07. In addition, delivery and installation must then be completed from 9/1/07 through 11/30/07. Installation includes wall mounting or placement on a stand."

I'm pretty sure BB, CC, etc. unpack the TV and set it on the stand for you if you have them deliver it.

I still have this question: If I purchase a 50PX75U from Sears, can I still take advantage of this rebate?

Can I use the rebate when I have Sears install/mount my TV?

I submitted the wall mount installation invoice. It was more than $200. I was saying if you paid extra for a delivery service included an install/setup service, then you could submit that.

Does anyone know if the installation needs to be part of the original sale? What can be used as a receipt? Since I'm going to spring for a wall mount as well, can I just get a buddy to hang it up and print me an 'official' looking receipt for installation, given that the mount will probablyl cost me around $150 anyways...

Cleveland Plasma

Installation does not have to be part of original sale. Always refer to the 1-800 number on the rebate form or call Panasonic at 1-800-211-PANA. If you get the answer you want to hear get the reps full name, extention, and location they work at. Why do this, other wise it is just hear say........

Thanks. I called panny, and they just want an installation receipt. Apparantly, I don't go reimbursed if I buy a mount myself, but if I buy it from someone who screws it to my wall, I do get re-imbursed. I'm not sure what level of checking they go through, but since I'll be paying for the mount, I'm thinking of creating a receipt and billing myself for the install. Anyone else done this?

ajoseph

That's called fraud.

larrytr
10-30-07, 07:13 PM
Yeah, I agree... It's just a bit annoying that I'm going to be paying for a mount regardless of who drills the holes in the wall. I'd be happy just to get the $149 back for the mount, but they said the rebate only counts towards the job, regardless of who buys the stand. I'll have to see if I can find someone local to hang it, since I"ll be springing for the stand anyways.

bananfish
10-30-07, 09:26 PM
Maybe you could have a buddy purchase the $149 wall mount and have him do the barest minimum of labor for installation (maybe put in one screw), then give you a receipt for "Parts and labor re: installation of Panasonic <MODEL> using <BRAND> wall mount at <ADDRESS> - $159" (that's $10 for his labor and trouble), and put his name and phone number on the receipt.

I don't think that's fraud - the rebate offer doesn't say it's for "professional" installation, just installation. If they follow up with him, he can tell them the truth. "I purchased the wall mount and the owner and I did a co-installation." Nobody has told a lie at all. If they reject it, they reject it.

larrytr
10-30-07, 10:27 PM
That's kind of what I was thinking, at least getting the mount covered. Quite honestly, the physical installation of these seems quite easy with a few of the mounts I've been looking at. I hung my whole kitchen cabinets last year, so a mount to support 90 pounds s/b a breeze. Guess I'll have to hire someone to hold the bracket for me..lol... somehow, I doubt panny's going to accept any receipt that's not from a know company, though.. Thanks for the suggestion!

Panasonic TH-50PX75U purchased from Fry's 10/10/2007
Delivered (cost $60) and set up on stand 10/13/2007
Sent in form/receipt/upc/invoice/delivery request 10/15/2007
Rejected 10/30/2007 due to "missing delivery receipt"
I gave them copies of all I had. What gives?
Is this an attempt to BS out of paying the rebate?

I am in the same boat from a different seller, you need a receipt saying it is installed our you don't get the rebate... IT DOES NOT COVER ONLY SHIPPING CHARGES!!!! The has to be some type of actual installation with corresponding receipt

Well I don't have one for 'installation' but simply a receipt indicating delivery. They did deliver it, unpack it, and set it up on my stand. Does that count as installation or not? I somehow think they're trying to get out of paying on as many of these as they can.

The rebate says up to $200 for delivery and installation. I need neither of those. However, I'd gladly pay someone for a professional calibration if I get the money back from Panasonic.

I would think calibrating is part of the installation. Does anyone know?

Edit: I called Panasonic. Calibration does not count towards the rebate.

Just checked my status of my rebate
http://www.panasonicconsumerrebates.com/

Looks likes Im in the system and approved for the full $200 and my status is CHECK PAYMENT but havent been issued a check # yet so looks good to get within 8 weeks

I bought mt TH50PZ700U from Ken Cranes in Buena Park
Sent all the stuff in right before the 3/15 deadline

Made sure to send in copies of EVERYTHING not just the receipt but also the delivery invoice and the delivery confirmation and circled all the critical stuff

dont want them giving any excuses not to accept it

I'm still waiting for my 200 dollars check.

01/10/08 bought TV
01/12/08 Delivered TV, they put it on a stand
01/13/08-Mailed everything to Panasonic

2 month now.

I'm in the system with a check #. Now just waiting. I'm pretty sure I will get my check but this is the last time I will ever do this rebate thing again with electronics. In today's world if you want to sell it to me cheap do it without this hassle and months of waiting.

Thats exactly why they do it knowing:
1) Most people will lose the paperwork
2) Most people will forget and not do it before the deadline
3) Most people will be too lazy to copy and mail the stuff out

Its all mind games making you think you got a better deal so it puts you over the hill to the BUY side of your decision and they risk not much knowing they wont have to pay 100% of the folks

I agree it's annoying and troublesome, but there is somewhat of a method to their madness.

Once you've gone to the trouble of mounting a plasma, you're unlikely to ever not have a flat-panel TV in that room ever again. And if you move, the new owners of that home are more likely to put a flat-screen TV in if there is already a mount all set up. As a market leader, Panasonic stands to be the beneficiary of that a good deal of the time.

The free white glove service will not get you a usable receipt.

I ordered a 42PZ700 from Amazon in January, and picked it up at the local Eagle warehouse. Word has some excellent invoice templates. I received my check this week.

Anyone else have their rebate docs lost? Mine are. I mailed them on 2/9/08. I just called, cust. service has no record. So they gave me a FAX number, I have to send a copy of the owners manual front cover, and the other receipt information to get things going. Now that I think about it, it is useless to even do this now. The rebate was only good through 3/15/08, meaning the documents had to be postmarked by that date. I guess I should have checked on this sooner :(

From a quick look at the rebate it only covers the new 2008 models & the older 58" & 65" PZ700U / PZ750U models & they probably cover those two because the new 58" & 65" won't be out until next fall.

It took Panasonic about a month a half just to enter my info on the computer to get the rebate process started. Maybe yours is still waiting for someone to open the letter. Its possible.

I feel dumb for even getting involved in this rebate thing. 200 bucks is too much to risk on lost letters etc. You can buy the lastest model at rebate prices without dealing with rebates. Thats how far prices have fallen on TVs now.
