I just got my 5080, and was trying the breakin dvd on my other tv, and it looks widescreen (tried on PS3 and DVD player). As in theres a black bar on top and bottom. Yes, neither of these tvs are 16:9, but will my 5080 have those black bars? If it does, i definetly should not do this right? Cause that would do the exact opposite of what I want.. correct? And am I really suppose to reset this thing every 49 minutes for 100 hours?

Make sure you set the DVD player to 16:9 mode when you connect it to the plasma. You definitely don't want black bars on for 100 hours!
a break-in dvd is absolutely and totally unnecessary, and just reduces the life of the set by that much more, along with wasting electricity.

Thank you. Somebody else hasn't fallen for the AVS folklore. Calibrate the plasma with your favorite calibration DVD and enjoy. Just don't leave black bars on for many hours at a time - same for static images. Watching OAR 4:3 or 2.35:1 content won't hurt anything. You may get some image retention but this is normal for all plasmas - it will go away most of the time you won't notice it unless your looking for it.

Really? You think it's safe to do OAR 4:3? I've been using gray pillar boxes, which I absolutely hate (can't use stretch mode for complicated reasons). What would you say is the time limit for 4:3 material?
