I just finished adding a screened porch to our house. I roughed in the ability to include a TV. Does anyone have suggestions on the best type/model/brand of TV that works good in the outdoors? This would be protected from the elements and located in the upper corner of the porch.

Thanks,

I have a similar setup and I've had a 25" cheap tube TV out there for 5 years with no issues. I also have an LCD projector that I use out there but I bring that in each night.

So based on my history if you're going with a tube TV you should be fine with leaving it out there. I would be more cautious with a projector or flat panel especially since they're more money.

Thanks for the advice.
I ended up with a VIZIO VX32LHDTV20A

I found a site that helped me. They have outdoor tv covers and security alarms specifically for this use. Also some good info on installing this yourself

We needed a solution that would protect from the rain, snow and potential theft/vandalism for our 42" Samsung display. This was to be located outdoors on a porch near a hot tub.

The unit also came with a heater for winter and a cooler for summer, the suppliers site is http://www.lcdenclosure.co.uk (http://www.lcdenclosure.co.uk/news/outdoor-tv-cabinets/) you may find them helpful
