I'm trying to compare both Panasonic and Samsung here. Panasonic is always #2 in Plasmas behind Pioneer, but it's hard to pass up these Samsungs! I have 2 in 1080p, and 2 in 720p.

Panasonic 1080p (http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TH-50PZ700U-1080p-Plasma-HDTV/dp/B000QDBYII******pd_bbs_sr_1/102-2260272-6616962?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1188940724&sr=1-1)(can do this 1080p through HDMI only?)
Samsung 1080p (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000R1E59O******nosim/?tag=mysimon-ce00-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000R1E59O&linkCode=asn)
Panasonic 720p (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PBJSE8******wl_it_dp/103-4906379-0562248?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1XYX9GD4TDW3Q&colid=QCVUB8AS5IR8)
Samsung 720p (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NEFVM0******nosim/?tag=mysimon-ce00-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000NEFVM0&linkCode=asn)

I'm not asking which is the best, but more specifically which is the best in the 1080p and 720p categories; I don't know whether Samsung or Panasonic is better now in plasmas. Are these the best in 50" plasmas(that aren't very expensive), like are there any other better models?

Both are equal in picture quality. I would prefer the 1080p Panasonic. Although Samsung has slightly more features.

I don't think my budget is $2500, I just need a good TV like $1700. 1080p always seems to be good, but honestly I don't I want it, especially at 13 feet away, even with a 50" screen. Okay so a few games will have it, but I don't plan on getting big with with Blu-Ray/HD-DVD. I always people telling me 1080p does make a difference, but I think I"m just going with 720p.

So now between the 720ps, which one is best?

EDIT: Good gracious, none of the links are working, are they? WEll I can give you the model #s. Again I'm probably going with 720p to save $1000.
