View Full Version : Problems with the Samsung HPT5064 Plasma?
SephirothXR 09-06-07, 09:11 PM At first I thought this was a great plasma! Then in the owners thread, I see many people complaining about it being grainy and the quality being horrible. Is this true with all the versions of this model? I'm worried then if I should get it, b/c I don't want things like my 360 or regular TV programming to be so bad.

The only problem I've seen on mine is some overly compressed poor quality SD TV channels. HD, DVD, and games all look good to me.

No complaints here. I'm happier with my choice today than when I bought it.

The only thing *many* people have complained about regarding this TV is judder, and that itself is a minor issue only seen in certain circumstances. I think you're reading way too much into one person's post.
mbehr22 09-25-07, 09:05 PM what is "judder"?
i have just purcahsed this TV
its a few hours old, and it looks fantastic
however, the guide channel on my digital cable has a small 'glitch' or little black squiggly line that appears mid way up on the L hand side ...
its not on any of my actual channels, though...
whats the deal?
no problem with the picture being grainy. You must calibrate any plasma or LCD because out of the box they all look ugly..
try to reduce contrast under 72
Britness under 55
sharpness under 30
colors under 47
colors warm1 or neutral to begin with
Samsung is better on SD content than many competitors.

Look at the link in my sig for an answer on Judder. Also pay attention to the break-in settings vs. post break-in settings info.
Your channel guide glitch sounds like a problem with the STB.
mbehr22 09-25-07, 11:36 PM Thanks guys
I will adjust accordingly...
Are the guidelines listed in my manual or can i find them on here?
And Mike, what is STB?
Mike Fenech 09-25-07, 11:44 PM Sorry...STB = set top box: digital cable box or DSS receiver.

It is probably resetting to shop mode. There is a way to change this setting, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I think it is in the manual.
