What do you guys think of this new remote? I really like B&O stuff and think this is one I will pick up. I am surprised thou; ususally their stuff is propietary, but it seems this will work with all equipment...unless someone can correct me.

Well, I don't know quite what to say to this one. It does look intriguing for what is, actually, a reasonable price in the very high end category (MSRP $560 apparently), and its looks will give the more sleek new remotes a run for their money ... ahem ... no pun intended!
The idea of programming it in the store also seems novel, but will possibly only suit people who already own B&O stuff. Will the store do this, and make any necessary modifications "for free"? Will it work properly, or will their be all sorts of issues such as "it kinda works my TV, but I still need the old remote to switch inputs ... change aspect ratio ... bla bla bla!)?
It's hard to say much more than that with so little information available. The rounded "bauble" part seems rather cute, the way it seems to hold all the joystick area controls within reach, balancing the unit in the palm of one hand.

The Beo 5 can work other equipment. Currently it works through the Beosystem 1 or Beosystem 3, just like the Beo 4 does now. In the "near" future it will also be able to control things like motorized shades, lighting controls, heating, etc. You won't be able to get the remote and have it control a AV system that doesn't have a B&O processor.
The Beo5 is expected to become an important part of the new B&O range. It is designed to work with all of the range but is particularly suited to use with the TV range when partnered with the BeoMedia devices.
A backlit screen, which is able to be configured via a USB connection on the docking/charging station, sits on top of a very tactile metal control sphere. The interface is a modification of the well known Beo4 layout but with the addition of a click wheel and ring of control buttons. A numeric keyboard can be activated on the touch sensitive screen by pressing TEXT. Different set ups of screen can be customised by the user though this has to be set up by the dealer. Configuration is a dealer task.
