Ahahaha, you beat me by a minute!
Kris-Co 09-07-07, 10:21 PM Haha about time Shawshank Redemption comes out, they've shown it in their included flyers inside the HD DVD case for like a year!
DeathStalker2 09-07-07, 10:27 PM Wow they have these placeholder items there. What a tease.
Clash of the Titans
Poltergeist
Superman II original
Goonies
sdscribe 09-07-07, 10:36 PM Heat!
Pumping my fist in the air. Stoked. Now if Paramount would just release Apocalypse Now.
MichaelHDDVD 09-07-07, 10:40 PM Superman II Original :)
The Matrix by itself will probably sell very well
^^ Yup.
I've been waiting for a very long time to buy the matrix on it's own. I have absolutely ZERO desire to own those other two sorry excuses for movies.
vanilla rice 09-07-07, 11:20 PM Heat!
Pumping my fist in the air. Stoked. Now if Paramount would just release Apocalypse Now.
yeah, starring Robert Dinero!!! :) couldn't resist....
"An L.A. cop (Al Pacino) becomes fixated on a deadly thief (Robert Dinero) and his crew (Val Kilmer & Jon Voight) who are taking Los Angeles to the cleaners. This movie includes one of the most spectacular shoot outs in film history as Dinero and Kilmer rip through downtown Los Angeles with both guns blazing."
zero_zep 09-07-07, 11:43 PM wow....there are a lot of titles I'm going to be buying from them this year. Lets get some dates!
TV Casualty 09-07-07, 11:56 PM Superman II original! I need both versions. Excellent.
Shawshank....finally, those haunting inserts from 2006 can rest in peace.
sciolist 09-08-07, 12:10 AM I'm thrilled that LA Confidential is coming out ... one of my favorites.
lockheede 09-08-07, 12:44 AM I noticed that they have a placeholder for "Batman" for HD but not BD...
Stitchesman 09-08-07, 12:47 AM very strange pricing on a few of these.
TrevorS 09-08-07, 12:51 AM Lots of good titles -- any idea when they become orderable?
Chris Rein 09-08-07, 01:02 AM Heat and Natural Born Killers.
Sweet baby Jesus!
And NO HEAT listed for Blu Ray?
Should I pull a beatboy and say that Mann is HD-DVD only!?!??!?! ;) Only kidding.
10,000 B.C. Holy crap. $80! :p
And did anyone else notice "New Format Test" on the list? I'm guessing that's their hybrid discs with both BD/HD on one, but who knows?!?!
natecorn 09-08-07, 01:16 AM oh man, if these are out by the end of the year i will broke but happy. I just bought L.A. Confidential on dvd and got bent over the barrel on price because I went to Borders, but I had to have it right away so I guess that's what I get!
Ironhorse75 09-08-07, 01:19 AM Cool Hand Luke, fantastic.
I've been waiting FOREVER for a new release of that.
PRO-630HD 09-08-07, 01:20 AM How come every title is listed 3 times. LW 1 & 2 directors cuts, okay now I am getting pissed.
PRO-630HD 09-08-07, 01:31 AM Looks like a bit of a mess to me. Clearly some of the listings will be out in like April or later of 2008. Some of these films haven't hit the theater yet. They list Blazing Saddles twice, standard and a 30th anniversary edition. The hddvd is the 30th anniversary edition. They do the same with Unforgiven.
Dave Mack 09-08-07, 01:36 AM Cool Hand Luke, fantastic.
I've been waiting FOREVER for a new release of that.
"What we have here is a...."
;)
Chris Rein 09-08-07, 01:36 AM How come every title is listed 3 times. LW 1 & 2 directors cuts, okay now I am getting pissed.
Take a look at Blazing Saddles...Double Dip city here they come! Ugh
LOL! I saw your second post. Sorry. Confirmed!
Ah sweet, LA Confidential, a movie so smart and so good my loins ache. And Kim Basinger never looked better.
Hush hush.
MEC2
cybereality 09-08-07, 02:01 AM OMFG!!! The Goooooooooooooonies!!!!
JamonWithLove 09-08-07, 02:19 AM GREAT LIST!!!!
rooockky road???
UCFKevin 09-08-07, 02:28 AM Wow. What a list. Could be ages before a bunch of them are released, but DAMN. Batman? Superman II? Goonies? Lethal Weapon Director's Cut?
They're really forcing my hand at doubledipping. I swore I wouldn't for movies I didn't think would be worth it, but...dammit....they're not making that easy.
It looks like the Harry Potter movies will be released individually as well as the box set.......very nice. I wish there were release dates though.
JamonWithLove 09-08-07, 02:30 AM I still can't believe no one has mentioned TWISTER and THE EXORCIST are on that list... come on, any fans?? haha.
Joon TV 09-08-07, 02:39 AM Now how come on this side of town EVERYONE believes and is excited about Warner's website. But in the BD side a bunch of HD-DVD trolls are in there saying "it isn't going to happen" and the "wait is not over, lets see if you actually get the movies." Seems kind of a double standard doesn't it?
ChrisW6ATV 09-08-07, 02:43 AM Grand Prix is on the list? Cool. Is it better than the one I bought last year? ;)
Dave Mack 09-08-07, 02:56 AM Glad I held off on Lethal Weapon as the director's cut is much better IMHO. The scene where Riggs faces down the sniper really helps to show you just how much he doesn't give a damn about living in the beginning...
:)
I wonder what NEW FORMAT TEST is?
Damn I just bought Unforgiven and now they list a special edition, I wonder what that will be?
There are definately a lot of must owns on that list.
The $29.95 SRP for Friends Season One is pretty nice, I was expecting it to be $59.95 like some of their other releases.
Paulidan 09-08-07, 06:58 AM I wonder what NEW FORMAT TEST is?
Total HD?
It would be better if they actually listed in the "details" section what audio options and extras there are or will be on the discs. I hate suprises ;)
clear31 09-08-07, 07:24 AM Falling Down was great
whenever i want mcdonalds breakfast but i get there for lunch i think of this movie
Heat
LA Confidential
Shawshank and Green Mile
All mine as soon as released! Heat is probably one of my most watched regular DVD's!
I wonder what NEW FORMAT TEST is?
Damn I just bought Unforgiven and now they list a special edition, I wonder what that will be?
There are definately a lot of must owns on that list.
I mentioned this in the BD thread on the same subject, but NEW FORMAT TEST sounds like placeholder text a web designer would use when reformatting a page.
I don't think Warner meant these pages to go up. They look like they're still being worked on.
David Susilo 09-08-07, 08:17 AM Clash of the Titans on HD? WTF?
domtheone 09-08-07, 08:18 AM Clash of the Titans on HD? WTF?
Cool:D
David Susilo 09-08-07, 08:20 AM I actually like the movie (own the LD and DVD of the title) but even in the theatres it looks like $#!+. Can anybody enlighten me how is this movie going to look any better on HD DVD? Especially the scenes where Poseidon opens the gate for the sea monster (forgot the name of the monster).
cybereality 09-08-07, 08:26 AM I actually like the movie (own the LD and DVD of the title) but even in the theatres it looks like $#!+. Maybe it got the royal treatment and they retouched the special effects? I doubt it though.
Holy smokes, thank you Warner!
I'm gonna need a bigger shelf! :)
bygdaddy 09-08-07, 09:20 AM I still can't believe no one has mentioned TWISTER and THE EXORCIST are on that list... come on, any fans?? haha.
I would love both of these! The Exorcist still creeps me out to this day.
Boogie7910 09-08-07, 09:22 AM Don't be suprised if Blu-Ray owners only get half the titles on this list.
FrancescoP 09-08-07, 09:25 AM Can somebody write down a list of the new titles? :)
John Ballentine 09-08-07, 09:29 AM Clash of the Titans on HD? WTF?
The more Harryhausen the better:)
fiddlesticks 09-08-07, 09:43 AM Ah man, time to dump off some SD DVDs and wait...
Batman
Falling Down
Exorcist
Wizard of Oz !
JetJockey1 09-08-07, 10:02 AM I wonder what NEW FORMAT TEST is?
Damn I just bought Unforgiven and now they list a special edition, I wonder what that will be?
There are definately a lot of must owns on that list.
This will be the Twin disc format as stated by Ken Graffeo, executive vice president Universal Studios, in the interview he also stated that Warner will be releasing in the twin/combo format only as well as Universal in the near future.
CochiseGuy 09-08-07, 10:13 AM 10,000 B.C. Holy crap. $80! :p
And did anyone else notice "New Format Test" on the list? I'm guessing that's their hybrid discs with both BD/HD on one, but who knows?!?!
I had to look 10,000 BC up - it doesn't come out until March 2008?
And yeah - I couldn't find a listing on Imdb.com for "Format Test". :p
I think their web programmers got a little carried away . . .
I still can't believe no one has mentioned TWISTER and THE EXORCIST are on that list... come on, any fans?? haha.
I love both films and am definitely hyped about seeing both in HD.
Appleseed, Matrix, Falling Down and Shawshank for me.
HPforMe 09-08-07, 10:35 AM What a list - the Dirty Harry series, and Heat are big on my list.
lsdavinci 09-08-07, 10:58 AM Maybe it got the royal treatment and they retouched the special effects? I doubt it though.

sivartk 09-08-07, 11:27 AM What is the "Best of HD DVD Vol 1" for $5. Can that be right?

MovieMinded 09-08-07, 01:05 PM I thought Poltergeist was cancelled. I will pick up Clash of the Titans, and Wizard of Oz, blade runner and a few others. :)
J
It was only delayed, it is expected to be released in early 2008.
And did anyone notice that some titles like "The Exorcist", "Eraser", "Shawshank Redemption" and "Heat" are only listed for HD-DVD right now. It's weird they have Blu-Ray & HD-DVD listings for just about every title, even way advance items like "The Dark Knight" but on these titles which could be out by the end of the year there's only HD-DVD versions listed.
BuckNaked 09-08-07, 01:15 PM Don't forget: Use code RNFS for 25% off DVD/Blu-ray/HD-DVD at the Warner store.
Edit: Just found out, it doesn't work just yet on the new titles we're all so excited about.
GameOver 09-08-07, 01:23 PM Eraser on HD-DVD is a must have for me,excellent movie should sound and look awesome.
IRockSoAwesome 09-08-07, 01:24 PM Just to let everyone in on it:
Batman Anime is six short animated films done in the anime style. Writers for the stories include Academy Award nominee Josh Olsen, Batman Begins writer David Goyer and comic writer Brian Azzarello

And here is the trailer DC Comics showed for Justice League: The New Frontier at San Diego Comic Con this year:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-Hb_d5Qnts
New Frontier was one of the best comic series I've read in years and I am really looking forward to the movie
Also, here is the trailer fro Superman DOomsday, which Warner also has listed for HD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3keuiWzY-Q

jimbology 09-08-07, 02:13 PM Warner sucking more money out of my wallet. Great list. :D
TrevorS 09-08-07, 02:31 PM I actually like the movie (own the LD and DVD of the title) but even in the theatres it looks like $#!+. The Cracken!
TrevorS 09-08-07, 02:37 PM Now how come on this side of town EVERYONE believes and is excited about Warner's website. But in the BD side a bunch of HD-DVD trolls are in there saying "it isn't going to happen" and the "wait is not over, lets see if you actually get the movies." Seems kind of a double standard doesn't it?
I saw that thread -- and the trolling. It seems like both sides have members that just can't resist thrusting themselves upon others knowing fully well it's primarily for the purpose of disrupting and tearing down. It's a really sad commentary on the nature of human beings generally :(!
I think it's awefully cool they're putting out the individuals for the Matrix and Harry Potter series, those alone will move in large numbers, will sell hardware I think, I know if I wasn't already in, I'd be all over the first Matrix and a player to dive into HD DVD with!
Without hesitation for me:
Cool Hand Luke
Deliverance
The Green Mile
The Shawshank Redemption
The Shining
Troy: DC (possibly -- need to read reviews first)
I was hoping like hell to see The Outlaw Josey Wales pop up soon, but no luck. :::spits:::
MattGuyOR 09-08-07, 03:05 PM HD DVD is basically digital crack! Where's my A2 pipe???
spectator 09-08-07, 03:10 PM Wasn't North By Northwest supposed to be on the imminent-release slate?
Also, any sign of Citizen Kane or Singin' In the Rain?
Adam_ME 09-08-07, 03:23 PM Wasn't North By Northwest supposed to be on the imminent-release slate?

I believe WB said in the HTF chat that North By Northwest would be released in 2009 for its 50th anniversary.
spectator 09-08-07, 03:59 PM I believe WB said in the HTF chat that North By Northwest would be released in 2009 for its 50th anniversary.

Dave Mack 09-08-07, 04:07 PM I was hoping like hell to see The Outlaw Josey Wales pop up soon, but no luck. :::spits:::
GREAT flick...
:)
Adam_ME 09-08-07, 04:21 PM Damn them! What's wrong with the 48th anniversary?
It's not just about the marketing opportunity of the 50th anniversary. Apparently it's also gonna take them a lot of time to prepare it for a HD release. It's a classic title from WB though, so it'll be worth the wait.
Dave Mack 09-08-07, 04:35 PM Yes, TAKE your time with it, please!
:)
PRO-630HD 09-08-07, 04:39 PM I wonder what NEW FORMAT TEST is?
Damn I just bought Unforgiven and now they list a special edition, I wonder what that will be?
There are definately a lot of must owns on that list.
You own the special edition. They say there are 2 versions of Blazing saddles as well. The 30th Anniversary and a standard edition. The hddvd is the 30th anniversary edition. The hddvd of Unforgiven is the S.E. The hddvd of POTO is the S.E. What they did here was a very lazy and quick title port of their dvd's. I am hoping they will fix this soon. They have like 3 versions of every film.
MovieMinded 09-08-07, 04:45 PM It's becoming clear that no one was supposed to see the site yet. It has alot of issues and is clearly in a testing stage. It's interesting that some titles appear like they are going to be double-dips and others are going to be HD-DVD exclusive but since the site is clearly not ready for the public nothing can be seen at sight value. Most likely Warner will have the site pulled or replaced with a placeholder by Monday once they know people have been viewing the site, the last thing they want right now is more people hounding them for hi-def answers. The one thing that we can take from the site is that Warner does not appear to be going HD-DVD exclusive unlike the rumors that have been spreading since Paramount made their announcement, which is a dissapointment. Had they done that the war could have been over alot sooner, especially if LionsGate went neutral as well. But it just doesn't seem like any of those rumors were based in reality.

Good to know, I'd hate to have to double dip that one. Yeah it is strange the placeholders that they have listed. Multiples for most of the movies already released. It makes you wonder though if the will be new doubles all having IME and Web enabled features, just a thought
SamwisetheBrave 09-08-07, 05:21 PM The Cracken!
He goes great with cheese! ;) (Actually, it's the Kraken).
David Susilo 09-08-07, 05:24 PM :) Thanks guys! You guys made me Kraked... or is it cracked? :p
spectator 09-08-07, 05:28 PM It's not just about the marketing opportunity of the 50th anniversary. Apparently it's also gonna take them a lot of time to prepare it for a HD release.
I'm not sure why, considering how gorgeous the DVD is. All the restoration and a fantastic HD transfer (and some nice extras, to boot) are done.
jlkeeton 09-08-07, 05:49 PM I think this definitely is some sort of testing... Ocean's 11 for 59.95$??? I thought Spiderman 3's 49.95$ retail was bad :D
It almost looks like all their titles, HD, BRD, and SD were all mangled up and listed with oddball pricing for some. Intriguing nonetheless.
Axiom Divine 09-08-07, 05:55 PM Strange...I just rented Falling Down before this announcement because I had never seen it. The HD would have to be a drastic improvement because the standard has horrible PQ.
swanlee 09-08-07, 06:18 PM I've seen Clash of the Titans on the INHD Cable Channel and it looked pretty good. The use of Minatures and stop motion photography did not look as bad in HD as you would think. It didn't look bad from what I remember.
Also I think the 720P version is available on Xbox Live.
Adam_ME 09-08-07, 07:58 PM Strange...I just rented Falling Down before this announcement because I had never seen it. The HD would have to be a drastic improvement because the standard has horrible PQ.
After seeing what they did with The Road Warrior, I'm not worried.
chad386 09-08-07, 08:11 PM I still can't believe no one has mentioned TWISTER and THE EXORCIST are on that list... come on, any fans?? haha.
"Now kindly remove these straps!" :D
Robert Spalding 09-08-07, 08:30 PM Ah man, time to dump off some SD DVDs and wait...
Batman
Falling Down
Exorcist
Wizard of Oz !
These four are must have's
Robert Spalding 09-08-07, 08:32 PM I've seen Clash of the Titans on the INHD Cable Channel and it looked pretty good. The use of Minatures and stop motion photography did not look as bad in HD as you would think. It didn't look bad from what I remember.

Yeah, I rented the Xbox Live version and it as pretty grainey
kevivoe 09-08-07, 08:39 PM Wells Fargo can't be pleased with Warner.
Mortgage payments sure to be late ... if at all. lol
Somebody moved these files\pages to production waaaay before they were ready but it is a tantalizing preview.
The Wizard of Oz in HD, the mind reels.
L.A. Confidential?
Solid.
Heat?
Bona fide classic.
Shawshank?
Ditto plus.
Twister?
While some are excited, that to me was one of thee dumbest movies ever.
The dialog was retarded.
spectator 09-08-07, 09:30 PM Twister?

Yeah, I can't watch it, it's so stupid, but people love the action and parts are entertaining.
Here's the list of stuff I would buy:
Clash of the titans
the exorcist
The Goonies
the green mile
Heat
LA Confidential
the matrix
poltergeist
shawshank redemption
wizard of oz
johnnyknoxsvill 09-08-07, 10:06 PM I hope they get the site working before Sept 30th so I can use the 25% off coupon for a few titles!!

R Miyashiro 09-09-07, 04:59 AM Pooring out the anouncements (all anounced, not all dated):
Am i the only one who finds the above line hilarious. I'm not sure if the pun was intentional but looking at the list I believe I will indeed be poor soon.
Heat is the number 1 HD DVD title I have been waiting for. I am a huge Michael Mann fan and will be more than happy to buy this title for a third time. Now I just need to wait patiently for Collateral to show up on a Paramount/Dreamworks HD DVD release list and that one will be mine as well.
Welp, I think after reading this extremely well written review of Troy: DC (LINK (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/review.php?ID=30134) - it's only for SD, but I wanted to read about the content enhancements), I'm definitely gonna get it now! I never saw the original and held off on buying it when I heard this was coming to HD DVD, really looking forward to it now, especially considering how some have said the origianl had great PQ/AQ. =)
soul embrace 09-09-07, 10:17 AM yea they have the green mile on there and they have buy it now by them like you can preorder them but when you click on it you get an error message. i tried t preorder Shawshank Redemption but got the error.
so does anyone know when Shawshank Redemption and the Green Mile are going to come out?
whippersnapper 09-09-07, 11:49 AM http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,136977-c,hometheatersystems/article.html
Next month, New Medium Enterprises' 1080p set-top players, which use the HD VMD (Versatile Multilayer Disc) format, will go on sale on Amazon.com and in stores such as Radio Shack and Costco for around $150--about half the cost of the least-expensive 1080p HD DVD player......... The movies that work in them are similarly inexpensive.
"Expect a small premium over DVD [discs], and a big discount over Blu-ray and HD DVD," says Jim Cardwell, an advisor to the company and former president of Warner Home Video.Has anyone heard whether Warner will begin releasing their movies on HD VMD when that becomes available in several weeks? Price sensitive consumers would want to gravitate toward that format with the price of their discs barely above that of DVDs.
timfitz99 09-09-07, 12:51 PM "Can ya help an old altar boy, father....?" ;)
I got it : )
I wonder which version of the Exorcist this will be? The original, or the "Version you've never seen" re-edit?
I'd prefer the original... the digital morphing in "Version" was really distracting (although it wasn't bad otherwise).
DaBigKahuna 09-09-07, 01:25 PM Agreed, too bad we will not get Last Of The Mohicans (FOX) anytime soon. Can't complain with Miami Vice, yes I even liked that one, Heat and hopefully soon Collateral.

I wouldn't worry about that they have had 25% coupons pretty regularly, so once that one ends there will be another for sure.
Shawn Watson 09-09-07, 09:41 PM I'm annoyed that there's no Seagal or Gremlins movies coming.
