Hi,

I just recently switched from Comcast Digital Cable to Verizon FiOS. I called to cancel my Comcast service and they told me to return my equipment (including an HDTV DVR DCT3416 I) to their payment center. However, I have a lot of recorded shows on there and was wondering if there was any way to hold on to the box for a couple of days to either watch them or transfer them elsewhere (a computer, my new Verizon QIP6416-2 HDTV DVR, etc.)? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately, once the DVR is deactivated you can no longer watch any remaining recorded shows. Nor can you transfer them anywhere.

Aww....darn....there's no way whatsoever? Even if I remove the hard drive from the unit, etc.?

Correct, no way whatsoever. The recordings on the hard drive are encrypted. No way to decrypt them without an active subscription to Comcast DVR service.
