Heavenly Sword is coming out next week ... I'm so over Warhawk. I just hit Wing Leader and I have no desire to continue progressing or even playing ... this may have to go on the Ebay block tomorrow.

I like the flying in warhawk, and am pretty good at it but Ill agree that everything else is garbage IMHO. I played the demo for heavenly sword, and thought it was garbage as well. Im a God of War man, and Heavenly sword just wasnt smooth or enthralling like GOW.

I'll admit, HS just isn't a GOW, but its close enough for this video game hungry guy right here.

Heavenly Sword is supposed to be very short, only 7hrs or so. I'll probably rent it, but I won't shell out $50 for a <10hr game, regardless of how good it is.

Warhawk is a great game. I'll take its endless hours of multiplayer versus 7 hours of Heavenly Sword. Now THAT's an EBAY candidate.....or a rental, more likely.

I'm definitely buying Heavenly Sword. I will beat it in less than a week and sell it on ebay. I'll probably end up spending less than if I rent it for 8 bucks and I won't have to worry about beating it in a week.

Ebay Warhawk ... get HS ... beat HS, Ebay HS ... get Lair ... beat Lair, Ebay Lair. Then go back to playing the all-time favorite "Waiting Game" for the next big PS3 titles to drop. :D

if HS was longer, had more variety of enemies and weapons, i would rank it above god of war. still, ill definitely be buying it.

I'm honestly wondering how accurate the 7 hours thing is, or if some of these "reviews" just poached information from others. And I don't understand why it's the big knock when being compared to the GOW series. I beat GOW2 the weekend it came out. Took me 2 evenings of gaming, maybe 10-12 hours if I remember correctly. 15 hours at most. I would assume that HS is going to take 7-10. Good enough for me. My attention span is limited ;)

i think the actual gameplay is around 7 hours. other reviews have said 10-14 hours (possibly including all the cutscenes?).

i know i beat God of War in about 8 hours on my first play through and God of War II about the same (or maybe an hour longer) and thats including watching all the cutscenes..

DeanoC says it took him 10 hours to play through the game. He has been working on it for the past 3-4 years.
I wonder if those who complain about the story are also those who skip cutscenes. Clearly, if you skip cutscenes, you are going to miss the storytelling.

Yeah seriously I don't know why people disparage the game for it's length. As with most things in life, games should be judged on quality not quantity. There are countless games that are 10 or fewer hours long... The people that are complaining had all better be huge RPG fans or else there is just no credibility whatsoever.

I have to agree. I enjoyed Oblivion for the first 40 hours or so, but never finished it. Might get around to it someday but I found myself suddenly looking for an ending to it all and I hadn't even come close to solving the main part of the game due to side quests. There was an article in GI recently that talked to this...

Prince of Persia was a great game, but, it only had about 7 hours of gameplay also..still one of my favorites...same with ICO!!

Play a game for the game..not for how long it is.

Seriously, if games get too long and don't hold my attention, I end up giving up and not finishing them because of time constraints.

Same here, I'm loving Warhawk and feel like I'll be into it for a long time.

I didn't find the HS demo that much to my liking but I probably will rent it to finish it one day or wait for it to become a budget title.

Didn't the first one have like a two hour time limit for you to beat the game? I'm not really sure, but I remember it was a really good and fast game - I was pretty young when the original came out.

I bought the original Super Mario Bros. and beat it in 17 minutes. Talk about a ripoff...

I love how people say "this isn't a GoW". How can they make that determination playing only a fraction of the game? Dare I say that it could it be better than GoW?

I'm nearly inclined to agree with you Cysquatch. GOW still wins out for me simply because of the Greek Mythology aspect, but other than that, I don't see why so many are being quick to dismiss HS as an underperforming GOW clone. If you ask me, the combat system in HS is far deeper than what exists in GOW. Many more combos and styles with the three stances than GOW ever had, even with the weapons you picked up along the way.

I think a lot of people are going to dismiss simply because they don't want to take the time to understand the combat system. I did the same with Ninja Gaiden. It overwhelmed me because it was so deep that I tossed it aside and never played the full game. GOW had a good combat system, but you could get by without truly knowing all the moves and combos weren't insane to pull off. Seems as though some of the moves in HS are a bit more complex.

People keep saying "it's no God Of War," but the comparisons seem to keep rolling in. I agree that it could be better than God of War, but I'm still a sucker for that mythology angle. We'll have to see what HS brings. I know I'm excited to find out...hopefully tomorrow!!

Me, either. Sadly, I don't think it will be until the 2009 holiday, if not beyond. And talking about it for THAT long is sad even for a bunch of video game nerds.

BTW Part two was like 2 hours the second time around. And 1.5 hours the third. Gotta get those special weapons. Boy was that fun.
