I just got the HD DVR receiver yesterday and the pic seems better than my DTV receiver, but the Verizon machine is WAY loud due to the cooling fan I'm assuming? Should I have a tech guy come out or are they all like this? My dad has the Comcast HD DVR and it doesn't make a peep and I believe they are both 160 gig.

The hard drive and/or fan in your Verizon DVR could be going bad. It should be no louder than the Comcast DVR.

I would call Verizon and have them replace the DVR.
