View Full Version : HD DVD promotion during NBC Sunday Night Footbal.. ummm, when?
DeathKnight 09-09-07, 08:59 PM Supposedly Toshiba has sponsored promotion for HD DVD during NBC's Sunday Night Football all season long. The season has started, the game is on right now, I don't see any HD DVD commercials or promotion of any kind. Where the hell is it? Did they cheap out and only go for a single spot at some random commercial break or what?
halfsane 09-09-07, 09:05 PM havnt seen shiiiat either..
bpsmith14 09-09-07, 09:08 PM me neither
They showed an ad during the Football in America Show which airs before the actual game
DeathKnight 09-09-07, 09:34 PM I only saw like the last 15 minutes of the the FIA show, so apparently I missed the HD DVD commercial that you say aired. Regardless, viewership is significantly higher during the actual game so why nothing thus far? It's almost halftime. Maybe we'll see something during the second half.
kevivoe 09-09-07, 09:54 PM Also heard HD DVD ad's on the radio today with a contest to give away a player every month.
pdusk88 09-09-07, 10:29 PM Has anyone seen anything yet?
OggideM 09-09-07, 10:31 PM if it was on here I channel surfed past it
Joon TV 09-09-07, 11:14 PM There was the HD-DVD commercial with Michael Imperioli promoting. The one were they show King Kong at the end on his flat screen while he is sitting on the couch.
Michael Mullis 09-09-07, 11:14 PM Nothing yet. Very odd.
DeathKnight 09-09-07, 11:40 PM Not a single HD DVD ad or promo during the game. Lame.
Ronin_R6 09-09-07, 11:43 PM Not a single HD DVD ad or promo during the game. Lame.
The showed the Michael Imperioli ad twice tonight. Once during the pregame show and once during the 3rd quarter of the game.
DeathKnight 09-09-07, 11:50 PM Must have missed that one too  It's possible that it aired when my local station decided to air local advertisements since I was keeping a close eye on the commercial breaks. One random showing during the game is not enough though. Guess I called it earlier. Toshiba needs to step it up a bit.
live4ten 09-10-07, 12:29 AM I was under the impression that Toshiba would be one of the major sponsors of the broadcast ... too bad. I didn't catch any ads here, but did the brief Heroes HD DVD spot at least follow the ad?
yellowcanary73 09-10-07, 12:32 AM Thats all right the Cowboys won!!!!
DJ Matt 09-10-07, 01:49 AM I saw the ad once. If I remember correctly, it was later on in the game. They should put out a shorter version of the promo that they have on thelookandsoundofperfect.com where they say "take the red pill". They need better advertising than a guy sitting down on a couch watching King Kong on HD DVD. They need something more catchy.
thematrix49 09-10-07, 01:53 AM Only HT related add I saw was for the new line of Samsung 120Hz LCD Tvs... apparently the NFL was unable to do proper video reviews without them.
rutlian 09-10-07, 01:53 AM Not a single HD DVD ad or promo during the game. Lame.
Do you have an hd dvd player?
cueCrew 09-10-07, 07:16 AM I was flipping through and caught the ad around half-time or third quarter. Running a promo that I have seen before did not bother me as much as the fact that it was standard def on a high def broadcast. It looked like a widescreen movie on a 4:3 tv as far as the aspect ratio. Maybe the S3 Tivo did something to mess it up, but I was not impressed.
Boogie7910 09-10-07, 07:37 AM did not bother me as much as the fact that it was standard def on a high def broadcast. It looked like a widescreen movie on a 4:3 tv as far as the aspect ratio.
ugh, that's not a very smart way to advertise a new HDM format.
Ronin_R6 09-10-07, 08:13 AM Your local station must have messed up, It was in HD here in D.C.
And yes, after the normal commercial there was a small but about Heroes S1 on HD-DVD.
DeathKnight 09-10-07, 10:16 AM Do you have an hd dvd player?
Yes, I do. I have both the 360 add-on (wanting to sell it) and an HD-A2. I also have 48 HD DVD's. Why do you think I posted this thread? I want Toshiba to get their ass in gear and get the word out. Now is the time. They need to do better than just a single random ad that's easily missed. I hope they pony up the dough to become a mentioned sponsor of these Sunday night games.
Chris Rein 09-10-07, 10:45 AM There was the HD-DVD commercial with Michael Imperioli promoting. The one were they show King Kong at the end on his flat screen while he is sitting on the couch.
Yup. I saw it too during the game. At the end of the spot, they promoted Heroes in HD, only available on HD-DVD.
I think we’ll see newer ads very soon. I’m really getting the feeling that the HD DVD group is going to ramp it up starting in October, when G3 models are out.
Absolute travesty!
The Look and Sound of Perfect commercial about HD DVD, in SD!!! Why???:(
I saw the "Transformers on DVD and HD DVD" commercial all day yesterday during the games, lost count of how many times, but it was plenty.
