I watch movies as part of my job – working in the movie business – so that means I am often watching movies I don't particularly enjoy(!), but which I want to see because they are important for business or artistic reasons.

As a result a feature that is very valuable to me is to watch DVDs at faster speeds, but WITH sound and also WITH subtitles (because I watch a lot of foriegn movies).

I just bought a Sony DVD player (DVP-NS77H) and it has a nice fast play feature with sound (up to 1.4x speed) but the subtitles turn OFF when you use that feature! How annoying! My Oppo player (981) shows the subtitles even at 4x play (but without sound).

So, does anyone have a recommendation of a player which has a fast play function WITH sound and ALSO subtitles?

I have a Panasonic 50-inch plasma so I'm thinking of giving a try to the comparable Panasonic upscaling player, the DVD-S53K.
