I've had the UTV from the beginning and planned on staying to the end.

However, I have relocated to a new development where the homeowners association provides free Internet and Cable TV. Now, I don't earn that much so saving over $1,200 p/year (in both Internet & Cable TV) is substantial for me.

I must say, this forum was great, with a good bunch of guys. Even though I didn't post that much, I checked the forum at least once or twice per week to learn quite a bit.

Even though I will not be here as frequently, I'll be sure to check back occasionally.

Personally, I'd like to see UTV stay for many, many years and believe it will.

Best wishes to you.:)

Well, good luck. I hope you can find a dvr that you are happy with.

I am curious however. Since I believe there's no such thing as a free lunch (or free internet and cable) I suspect your association dues must be substantial, unless there's some sort of bundle contract going on.

I've always wondered how many neighbors share the same wireless connection. It would seem really easy to share internet and probably even cable.

Actually, I will go without a DVR (believe it or not).
I do have a DVD Recorder, which I used to record My Programs from the UTV onto the DVD Recorder.

Regarding Cable costs, I'm not an expert on it since I've had DirecTV for many years. I do know that I just moved into a new townhouse development. I am renting it from someone who purchased it as an investment. They are paying the Maintenance fees (which I heard is between$175-$195- a portion of which, I assume, goes towards Comcast). I also imagine Comcast negotiates with new townhome developments like this to provide TV & Internet services at extremely reduced rates (because of the large numbers they get from such developments).

In any event, I got a steal on the rent, and, I still have the equity from the home I owned (which is paying interest $). I believe the market is still going down and will wait to see what is available next year.

So, it's working out pretty well for me. I just miss the UTV...and you guys.;)
