I'm planning on putting together a 3x2 switch setup where 3 of my inputs are HDMI devices, but the outputs are 1 x DVI and 1 x HDMI. I need to be able to use both DVI and HDMI at the same time. So one idea I had was to buy a 3x1 HDMI switcher like this one (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=3029&style=&seq=1&format=2#description) from Monoprice and then connect an HDMI to HDMI + DVI splitter to the output port. But is there such a thing as a reliable and inexpensive (<$60) HDMI to HDMI + DVI splitter out there?

I've already checked out the Monoprice "Video Splitter - HDMI Male to HDMI Female / DVI-D Female" (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10113&cs_id=1011303&p_id=2523&style=&seq=1&format=4#feedback) but the customer reviews have been terrible - half of the users reported issues with having either or both outputs working correctly. Is there anything else worth looking into?

Another option, I guess, would be to get the upcoming 4x2 Matrix Switcher (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=3728&seq=1&format=2&style=) from Monoprice and just use a HDMI/DVI cable on one of the output ports. Would that be a better solution?

I just purchased the 4x2 switch (should have it in a day or so) and will be connecting to one HDMI display and one DVI display (using an HDMI>DVI adapter from Monoprice). I'll let you know how it works out.

Got it up and running fine. Switches both displays and sources cleanly and quickly. I do not use HDMI audio, so I can't speak to that functionality, but one of my displays is DVI and it works great. There is a slight lag in negotiating the HDMI handshake, but it's not terrible.
