View Full Version : USB Charge on New PSP Slim
bcrossan7 09-10-07, 02:22 PM The new PSP slim is supposed to be able to charge via a USB cable. When I plug my PSP into the USB cable I use to charge my blackberry it is not charging. I have enabled USB charging in the settings so I am stumped. Anyone have this problem?
FrankJ.Cone 09-10-07, 03:00 PM Worked fine last night for me. Maybe turn it off (USB charging) then back on to reset the feature?
Not all USB chargers are alike. I'm not sure how they differ, but my wife's Blackberry charger won't charge my Motorola phone.
Old PSP's came with a mini-USB cable. If the new one's do I would use that first to test.

I know the chargers aren't all the same, I found that out trying to use a moto wall charger for my PS3 controller. But are the mini USB cables different like that too?
Remember to activate the USB connection:
Select (USB) under (Settings) from the home menu and press X.
Insert USB, wait five seconds and it should start charging. The green light will turn orange. Make sure your computer is on. It won't charge if the computer is off.

my blackberry charger and my motorola chargers are both usb mini chargers, they so not work on the others device
bcrossan7 09-10-07, 07:47 PM So I have tried 2 different cables, different computers, and different USB slots and nothing is getting a charge to the PSP except the power cable that it came with. Just to confirm, I am supposed to be able to use the data sync port on the PSP to a computer USB and get a charge versus this kind of USB special cable below, correct?

Swift Mojo Hand 09-10-07, 10:06 PM Wait, are you talking about the USB in wall outlet charger for your Blackberry ( I also have one ) or are you talking about the USB cable that has a mini connection on one end with the other end plugged into a computer. . .
Question for the original poster.

I have been trying the USB cable you use for sync (w/ mini connection) with the PSP, not a wall charger.

The green light doesn't turn orange? Does the computer recognize your PSP? If it doesn't, maybe your usb port is bad.
MindedSage 09-13-07, 11:18 AM It works for me. The only thing is, if i charge by USB and i go back to system settings, then the light turns green again. so i cant use my psp while charging through USB. How to Solve that?
Kind regards,
MindedSage
All usb cables are not the same.
I have 2 identical looking usb to mini usb cables. 1 will charge my moto razr using my computers usb port. 1 of them will not.
It's probably the same for the psp.
canoehead 09-13-07, 02:14 PM Blackberry wall chargers will only charge blackberrys - don't know why, but it's true. Moto USB chargers will generally recharge anything.
