I sent e-mail to Anchor Bay/Starz today to ask about Hellraiser on BD since the 20th Anniversary will be released on DVD in October. As they are currently Blu-ray only, I thought I'd ask about future HD DVD support. The repsonse was:
"Currently we have no HD DVD releases planned but I would imagine that if the format really takes off in the future, our plans would change. At this point we want to support the most commonly used format, which seems to be blu-ray. I hope you enjoy your blu-ray DVDs when you get them and I’d love to hear your thoughts!"

Sporadic 09-10-07, 02:48 PM I thought it was because they are tied up with Fox in a deal with distribution.
All SHE releases are distributed by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, which also distributes HIT Entertainment, Lions Gate Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer home video titles. Under this deal, Starz is allowed to release certain Fox titles on DVD under their label, being that Fox does not have interest in releasing these titles themselves. These titles bear the notice "Under license from 20th Century Fox" on their back packaging.
spectator 09-10-07, 02:51 PM You know, one might imagine that with a distributor like Anchor Bay, with their revenue stream coming from catalog titles, a metric like software attach-rate would be of paramount importance. I'm not a movie marketing guru, but I think it's a pretty safe bet that the high attach-rate of HD DVD titles suggests that the HD DVD consumer, to date, is more likely the type to purchase a lot of catalog titles.
would love to see Halloween ( '78 ) and Evil Dead 2 released on HD
I'm quite bummed that Halloween will be relesed on BD/dvd only this October

That wasn't my intention. Just having a little fun. I made the connection since I was watching Thomas last night with my kid, and I saw the Anchor Bay logo.

I'm an HD DVD supporter, so I'm always having fun here. Unlike the fanatics on the other side....;)

Sounds promising. I have said all along that alot of ppl bought into Blu-ray because of studio and CE support. Since the field has been leveled abit the picture is alot different these days.
I would also like Howleen 78, the orginal, not the one shown on MonstersHD.
