This is going to be long winded:
I am slowly beginning to upgrade my components to match my receiver and new speakers. My first upgrade was a cheap Sony NS57 DVD player to replace my skitzoid PS2 for DVD playing. My next thought was to replace my old Kenwood carousel CD player, but just as a thought, I decided to try the new DVD player as my CD player and the difference is amazing. I don't know if it is because I have the DVD player hooked up via Digital Coax vs Analog, but the difference is night and day. Same goes with DVD quality vs the PS2.
Again I don't know if it is a Component vs Composite issue or if is actually the player.
So my question is, if I go with an Oppo (probably the 970), will I get another leap, or is there only so much you can get from Digital Coax and Component. I have read all the rave reviews about up converting and HDMI and 1080p, but I wouldn't be able to take advantage of any of that, so, is it still worth it?
Cheers
