I feel very alone, as I have never seen this mentioned on the site, but I have two issues with the glossy finish that seems to be on the bezel and front trim of 90% of rear projection and flat panel TVs. First, I do not like the look, I think it looks cheap, like the lacquer finishes from the 80s (personal taste only). Second, and more importantly, the reflections on the glossy finish detract from the viewing experience when you are watching the TV. This has severely limited my choices in purchasing new TVs. I realize I must be in the minority since so many of these are being produced, but I want to know if there are any others out there who feel the same way.

You're not alone. I absolutely hate anything reflective near the screen, let alone the screen itself!

Its just one of those things, where if you notice it than you can't stop noticing it.. and you have to look at it.. It bugs you.

I have never actually looked at the bezel on any of these tvs, and I dont plan to either. In fact, its generally a good idea not to look for any flaws in a tv. If you look hard enough, you will find some, and you will never stop seeing it.

Ignorance is bliss.

maybe you can install some shag carpet to cut down on the glare :)

Personally I like them. But I've seen quite a few complaints about them on the plasma and lcd forums, so, no, you're not alone :p.

Only 6 of us? I guess that is why they are making so many tvs with gloss finish.

Like them when they are clean/new and the TV is off. Not practical in the home at all. Would never buy one.

No you are not alone, if I had to get a tv with that highly reflective black finish, I would most likely go over it with a coat of flat black paint.

The marketing moron who came up with the glossy piano black has an evil twin. He, the twin, gave us the slim models evidently assuming that we can rent out the unused space on our stands and get rich.
