HotTubJohnny 09-12-07, 12:53 PM ugghh. I hope that Carolina game isn't really in SD. According to TWC's website for the raleigh area, its in HD. Unfortunately, i trust these maps more than i trust TWC.
edit: actually the maps don't say its SD, only the post does. So maybe there's hope.
jefbal99 09-12-07, 01:20 PM Man, I'm right on the border of the Detroit blackout zone for the afternoon game on CBS. Really hope that doesn't happen.
LENNY 2112 09-12-07, 01:30 PM I can't believe networks still televise SD 4:3 football games. It should be against the law. LOL. I was hoping to see the Panthers in HD..... :(
San Diego at New England 8:15 PM NBC <---- this is gonna be a great game to watch!!
TravelFan1 09-12-07, 01:31 PM That story of 5-6 games per week is looking more like to be 5 games a week - still, better than previously 3 games...

Next Week will have 6 games on CBS in HD.
http://www.sportsline.com/cbssports/schedules/page/nfl
Week 1 would've had 6 too, except for the US Open finals.
As others have posted, CBS in doubleheader weeks will do 5 in HD and 6 for singleheader weeks.

Every other day someone else has to say the same damn thing.....

The TWC website is the LAST thing you should be trusting
siper66 09-12-07, 02:39 PM I wish I wasn't a Browns fan !
Man, I'm right on the border of the Detroit blackout zone for the afternoon game on CBS. Really hope that doesn't happen.
The Lansing market will see both of the CBS games. The blackout is only for the Detroit market because the Lions play on the singleheader network network at home.

If you receive the Detroit CBS station then you will not be getting a late game because the Lions play at 4 at home. If you get a CBS station from somewhere else then you'll get a late game.
I love getting WTOL-DT CBS from Toledo.....

I believe all the kiddies are saying...WOOT! :D
scottro 09-12-07, 03:10 PM YES! Steelers and Bills fans rejoice, we get Ian Eagle and Solomon Wilcots!!!
humdinger70 09-12-07, 03:39 PM Curious, for Fox broadcast, why parts of Kansas, Wyoming, a little splotch of Montana and practically all of Colorado (if I got all my states correct) are getting New Orleans at Tampa Bay?:eek:
The one part I can understand is San Diego county in California (Reggie Bush and Drew Brees for Saints - both former San Diego locals)
Pretty sure Vikings Falcons was SD, even though it was supposed to be HD. That would make this week's Fox game the second non HD game for them.
ncxcstud 09-12-07, 08:04 PM God I love being a Cowboys fan in Carolina :) who needs NFL Sunday Ticket eh ;)
kevincburns 09-12-07, 10:42 PM my matchup of the week: Colts-Titans. Should be a good one, at least I hope it is...
and I hope Dallas rolls again...

Doesn't change the fact that he's right.
Doesn't change the fact that he's right.
No... he's not.
Just one of the many that doesn't bother to understand the facts.
RussTC3 09-12-07, 11:37 PM Sure he is.
Do you really think CBS would have upped their HD output had there not been complaints from us?
They spend hundreds of millions of dollars on rights to broadcast the games. I don't see the problem in requesting they're all broadcast in HD.

All of the sources I use to put together these posts every week shows the Carolina game as SD.
Sure he is.

Yes, they would have upped their HD output without us, it is part of the NFL contract. Our complaints, however, have speed things along that path.
The thing is the question to why CBS does not do all games in HD seems to come up in every single thread. Usually these complaints come without any of the history of CBS doing HD NFL games from 1998 onwards or why their inferstructure is only now being expanded. Answers to those questions can usually be found in any of the many NFL on CBS threads.
Do you really think CBS would have upped their HD output had there not been complaints from us?Absolutely. It was in the plans before FOX even did HD.
Kingcarcas 09-13-07, 01:13 AM Weak, it would make more sense to give us either Seattle or the 9er games!! I have to put up with the Cowboys again...
pabuwal 09-13-07, 06:30 PM While we know FOX is only capable of transmitting 6 HD games/week, does the 7th game have the equipment to broadcast in HD? I am wondering if there is any cnance Fox will swith the Arizona game with the Jacksonville game because the Jacksonville game is now blacked out and shown in a very small part of the country.
OrleansDawg 09-13-07, 06:52 PM Wheh, I am glad Fox does all HD :)

Um... They don't...
And plenty of the HD they do is pretty crappy at times anyways

Um...ok, how about almost all?
Anyway, their HD is much better then the crap NBC puts out. I am very happy with it. Not quite CBS.

Or to be exact 93.33% of Fox's regular season games last year were in HD. With the schedule this year it will be 92.45%, however, this is subject to change based on flex scheduling.
mikepier 09-14-07, 08:09 AM As others have posted, CBS in doubleheader weeks will do 5 in HD and 6 for singleheader weeks.
I missed the reason for that. Could someone explain please why they can do an extra game on a singleheader week?

homcom,
Did you post a percentage of the number of HD games CBS will do this year? I looked for it, but could not find it.
Thanks,
Ken

CBS would be projected out at 84.26% this year (might change with flex scheduling). Last year CBS had 47.41% of regular season games in HD.
I posted the following about the history of the NFl in HD in the CBS week 4 thread to answer someones question but I'll repost here.
Through week 2 of this year FOX has done 311 regular season HD broadcasts, This is their 4th year of 6 HD games per week.
CBS started doing NFL HD in 1998 with 3 regular season games, these were separate telecasts then the SD telecasts. They started with joint SD/HD telecasts in 2003 doing 19 regular season games that year. I know they did the the Thanksgiving game in 2000 in HD. I may have missed a telecast or two in the years 1999-2002, but by my count through week 2 of this year CBS has done 189 regular season HD telecasts.
Numbers for the other nets are (regular season only):
ABC: 68
ESPN:74
NBC:20
NFL: 8
The split ESPN/ABC telecast of the Saints game moved to Monday night because of Hurricane Katrina is counted for ABC.
The numbers for ESPN, NBC, and NFL Net represent 100% percent of the games they have covered since they started broadcasting in HD. ESPN started with the 2003 season, NBC and NFL Net with the 2006 season.
ABC did 17 separate telecasts in 1999 and then started with joint SD/HD telecasts in 2003. ABC's number of telecasts does not represent 100% of the games they covered between 2003 and 2005. One game in 2003 was not produced in HD, it was a Miami vs. San Diego game moved to Arizona because of wildfires.
Ken can you recall if CBS did any regular season games between 1999-2002 other then the New England/ Detroit Thanksgiving game in 2000?
Any chance the halftime updates and postgame shows for CBS start giving the highlights in HD instead of SD?
