Hi everyone!

I am in a bind here and hopefully you all can help!

My house will be completed tomorrow and I will be setting up my theater system this weekend. Here is my problem.....

When I looked at the 2 HDMI cables that were installed several weeks ago the end connectors in the room where the LCD TV will be have been coated with overspray when they painted the room. I only found this yesterday:eek:!

Is there any way to safely clean the overspray off of the cables? Denatured alcohol, acetone, etc??????

The builder will have to replace the cables if they do not work but this will involve cutting sheetrock along the wall and into the media center closet. It can be done but I would like to try to avoid the issue if at all possible.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

:)

What color?:D

Seriously, as long as the paint is only on the outside of the cconnector, you might be able to clean it off with windex or a similar product. Just make sure both ends are disconnected first and let the connector totally dry out before attaching it.

If the paint got inside the connector, you may be SOL but I again you could try the same cleaner there using a piece of cardboard or better yet stiff chamois to clean the contacts. Be careful not to bend the contacts when doing this. Again, let the connector dry thoroughly before connecting it to any equipment.

Burn it to the ground and start over?
