have a hdmi 1.1, hdcp compliant projector. does this mean that the receiver i buy for this projector must be hdmi 1.1 only? or can i get any receiver that has a hdmi output that i can connect to my projector?
any help that can be provided will be highly appreciated.

Any HDMI input will work since all the versions of HDMI are back-compatible. Of course, you will get no more resolution or features than your v1.1 projector had when it was made.

thanks kal....the reason i asked this question was because my mit HD1000U projector is hdmi 1.1 and i am connecting a pioneer elite vsx80txv receiver to it but cant seem to get any signal. then when i connect my dvd player direcly via hdmi to my projector...viola, i get a signal. thanks for your help...looks like i have to get another receiver.

I would honestly say just pick up a 1.2 or 1.3. I know you can get them for like $5 from TendonUSA or monoprice.
here is a link to an FAQ that will probably answer your question
