I watched the OSU vs Akron game on the BTN last saturday and it wasn't in HD... Aren't all the games on the BTN supposed to be in HD?

From what I understand in the pinned section at the top of the forum BTN will be on the HD launch coming sometime after 9/19.

I have Comcast so I don't have BTN but I have been thinking about going back to D* once the HD channels go live and the recent BTN fiasco has me looking more & more.

I just switched from comcast last week because of the BTN. I was sick of waiting and I wanted all these new hd stations that D* is adding.

BTN HD already exists and almost all of the games including olympic sports are or will be in HD. The channel, however, has not launched on D* yet.

Dish Network just added BTN HD plus alternates so I'm assuming they will be showing all of the BTN HD games every week from here on out.

I would assume Directv would follow as soon as the new satellite is operational.

Until the next week, not all games are being broadcast in HD. According to the information we received from the Big Ten Network, all games September 22 to November 17 wll be in HD.

Pretty impressive for this 10 week period; that is until we consider the fact there are only 11 non-conference games in this time frame for all 11 teams. Meaning, ABC and ESPN will probably have many of the conference games and, for example, this non-MPEG4 D* sub will see my Nittany Lions struggle mightily ( :) ) against Temple on Nov.10 in SD.

Does anyone know if and when DirecTV will provide all games simultaneously in HD? Right now only the game on 220 is being delivered in HD while the overflow channels (218, 219, & 221) are SD.

I read either here or on DBSTalk that there was a "technical issue" that was being resolved to get all the BTN feeds in HD on D*. I can't locate the info right now, so I decided to email D* and find out the status of the alternate feeds in HD.

Here is the replay I got from D* support:

Details: I'm actively searching out an alternative to my Cable provider and I'm looking at Dish Network and DirecTV. I see that DirecTV has The Big Ten Network and the alternate game feeds, but only the Primary Big Ten Network channel is available in HD. When will the alternate feeds be available in HD. I know that they are available because the Big Ten Network has said they are and Dish Network has had them live for quite some time now. I have heard that there are some technical issues, but I'm wondering
if and when these will be resolved.

I don't deal with D* support at all, so is this their canned response to this type of an email or is D* just not gonna carry all the BTN HD feeds?

Seeing as they are only game time feeds, why not share transponder space with a PPV channel or something like that and only fire them up when needed?

Saturday at noon for CFB and weekday evenings for CBB. I don't believe the BTN is doing multiple Olympic sports in HD at this time, so they are not that heavily used.

Thoughts from the AVS crowd?

Ken, does the magic 8 ball have an opinion on this matter?

That is just the canned repsonse. Earl has said that it will happen eventually and I got an email from someone at the BTN saying that it will happen.

Found over on DBSTalk, but here is a note for the AVS crowd...

All BTN Alt feeds will now be in HD

*DIRECTV has confirmed it will carry all three games in high-definition this weekend for customers who have an MPEG4 HD receiver and 5-LNB satellite dish
