New to the whole forum thing and am an AV novice, so please bear with me.

Had an HLT5687s for about a week and noticed some issues with the display.

1. Noticed some small boxes appr. 1/4" x 1/2" along the right side of the display that were much lighter shade than the rest of the display, especially in blue and darker scenes. In the blue screen mode they were a faint yellow. There were 2 such boxes and they were present with no cables attached to the set, only power and the default blue screen. There was also a much fainter box near the lower center of the screen.

2. Noticed a radial wave/fingerprint pattern about 6" from the bottom of the display that diminished as it approached the center of the screen. This started at each side and diminished towards the center. This was barely noticeable from maybe 2 feet away and at an angle. This was also present in all modes, with a dvd and with only the power and default blue screen. After noticing this i visited several stores to check other sets, and it was a common issue on all the Samsung LED HLTxx87s sets i saw. The sales staff claimed they had never seen it before and referred me to Samsung. Called Samsung and they had also never heard of it, but offered to send a tech out to check things out.

I ended up returning the set under a 10 day full refund policy rather than waiting for a service tech to come out and then be stuck with a possibly flawed set. This was a July 2007 manufacture date.

Has anyone experienced either of these issues? I really liked the tv, but did not want to get stuck with the set and have no explanation for these issues.

Attached is a sketch of the issues.

Any insight would be appreciated.
