I just purchased a new Denon AVR-3808CI and will be hooking all of my sources into it via HDMI. My HR20-700, Xbox 360, and PS3. My TV is a 55" HDTV Mitsu that only does 480i/p and 1080i. It has component and DVI connections, but no HDMI. I sit about 10-20 feet away from the TV mostly. 80% of the shows I watch are in HDTV, I really do not care about SDTV anymore.
So do you guys think it is time to upgrade? The TV has a nice picture and nothing wrong with it besides the few things I mentioned above. Would I be able to see any improvements in upgrading to a TV that handles HDMI and can do 720p and 1080p? I do know that some of the newer DLP and LCDs will probably have richer colors due to my current TV being 5-6 years old.

I wouldn't upgrade until your not happy with it anymore. :)

I have the Mitsu WS-55313 and it has component and DVI. There is also a DTV connection that is configurable as component. I have my HD DVD player connected to DVI using a DVI to HDMI adapter on my HDMI cable. I have my HD cable box connected to one of the component inputs.
If your TV is a WS-55*13, you can connect the HDMI to the DVI input, as it is HDCP compliant. If it is older than a *13 series, then it probably does not have DVI. I'm pretty sure the *11 series do not. If your receiver can send all sources out to HDMI, that would be the way to go. You would want to use your receiver for the sound though.
If I were to get a new one, I would probably get the Mitsu 55734. However, the Current TV still has an excellent picture, and probably better blacks than DLP or LCD. I can't justify replacing it at this time.
I have the WS-55313 also and was planning on using the DVI port. Thank you for that feedback. Think I am gonna stay with what I have.

Those are great tvs for gaming and they have zero lag. I had a 55815 diamond series if I recall correctly... sold it to a buddy since it was too big for my house. FLAT AWESOME TV FOR GAMING THOUGH!
