View Full Version : 3.8 - fixes pay-per-view problem?

I noticed a few weeks ago that DirecTV pay-per-view recording wasn't working the way it once did. I'm away from the UTV (Sony) for a while, but I'm curious if anyone who received the 3.8 update knows if the issue I'm seeing was fixed.

The problem was this: you couldn't schedule a future recording (same day) of a ppv movie unless you were tuned to the channel. For example, Cars is available as an all day ticket. Via The Guide, you purchase the all-day-ticket on channel 101 at 7:45 PM. The info screen indicates you've paid for ppv. Cars is airing on channel 102 at 11:00 PM, and you'd like to record it. Unless Cars is also playing on channel 102 7:45, UTV won't let you tune to 102 (you get the "Call Customer Service" message). And ulness you can tune to the channel, you can't schedule the recording. If 102 is airing Cars at 7:45, you *can* schedule the 11:00 recording on 102. This is only the case w/ppv channels. In any case, you can schedule a manual recording for channel 102 at 11:00.

I swear this was previously possible (scheduling on *any* channel playing the all-day-ticket movie). I rarely purchase ppv movies, so I hadn't tried in forever, but when I did, I met with the behavior above. I called DirecTV customer service. The rep. tried to help, but wasn't familiar with the UTV. Anyone else see this and/or can anyone verify if this is now working w/3.8?

I recall a similar problem. I called in and some time after that it was working again. I never did figure out what the problem was. This was with 3.7.

I would suggest you log into the internet and do a refresh services. Might help.
