I have been using CapDVHS fine with my old comcast box just fine, but it died and Comcast brought me out a new 3416 box. Unfortunately, I can't capture video off it anymore. I get a file with blank video and audio streams. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any other tool besides CapDVHS I can use to capture a stream?

Thanks,
Brian

What channel are you trying to capture?

On many Comcast systems, most cable channels are now flagged as "copy one generation," so CapDVHS will just yield a blank screen. Try capturing from a local channel.

That appears to be the problem. I can capture the same channels live, I just can't archive anything I recorded in the DVR. Is there any other software out there that can be used to archive or save video? CapDVHS seems to be an old program that hasn't been updated in awhile and I can't seem to get VLC to save or play even the live stream.

Thanks

You can record it to a HDTV D-VHS VCR.
