I'm trying to hold off on buying a new projector untill all the reviews come in on the new releases but my bulb in my Sony HS10 is not going to last another week. I'm looking to buy a used bulb one because the new ones run $400. Does anyone know where I can find one? No luck on ebay or searching Yahoo.

I bought new one a few months ago for $260. Why won't it last another week? I was going through projector info overload while deciding which new projector to buy and because my HS10 already had green panel burn and a blue haze in the corner, I just kept the same lamp running. I think it made it to 8000 hours before I broke down and got a knew one. (Old one still works). I don't know if was the problems of the projector but I only saw about a 20% increase in brightness.

I already replaced my original bulb twice and both times the "new" bulbs failed within 50 hour, so I went back to using my original bulb. The difference between the original bulb and the replacements (while they worked) was huge, I would guess at least a 100% increase in brightness. Since I've gone back to the original bulb, about a month ago I have noticed that it has dimmed quite a bit more and I don't think it's going to make it much longer. I use the projector as my TV and as a theater so I use it every day.

Hi, new ones are less $300...

The other option is buy just the bulb, as you have two lamp housings open one of them and get the numbers off the bulb and search that part number on the Internet and buy just the bulb.
