I've searched the board and found lots of great info, but I've got a particular questions regarding 8300HD setup with HDMI:

1. When using HDMI, the "pass-through" options in the setup menu goes away - does this mean that when using HDMI all formats are "passed through" to compatible formats for the TV? I've used the advanced setup to select certain formats...now I'm not sure that this even makes sense. All I know is that I want my TV doing the upconversion, etc - not the cable box. Bottom line - what is the best way to setup the box when using the HDMI interface?

2. I randomly get a pop-up message upon changing channels (SARA firmware) that says something about HDCP subscription or something (can't remember exact message) which goes away by simply hitting "EXIT" on the remote. No big deal, but just a bit of a PIA - is this a common problem?

Over HDMI, the cable box negotiates with your TV for the best possible setup (as determined by the hardware). This often means that the box with send the TV its "native" resolution. This also means that it will not pass the native resolutions of the channels, just the one it negotiated with the TV.
