I just bought a Samsung 4053H (40", 720p LCD) and a OPPO 970HD. Have them hooked via HDMI.

Whenever I play XVID that is over 23 fps, the LCD goes blank "not Supported mode...Searching for Signals." When i try to hook it up via S-video, there is a signal but its in Black/White and the picture jumps continuously.

But, if its 23 fps its totally fine.

Is it the TV or the DVD that I need to return?
