When does Fox plan to upgrade their Hollywood studio to HD? I would have thought this would have been the year. Kudos to CBS for providing studio HD.

No its not, FOX studio shows are SD widescreen (unless they're on the road) as is commonly discussed FOX has a very, very good upconverter. Only NFL Today, Football Night in America and Sunday NFL Countdown are HD.

I think the NFL today show looks awesome in HD. Nice to see a set designed for HD.

Made in Canada.

Seems like everything HD is made in Canada these days and not just Evertz. Our Florida made Teranex is pretty good though.

It is pretty decent SD though... but noticable when you have something convenient to compare to.

All things considered, I like Frank Caliendo's bits each week... and I like the banter with the guys on FOX.. but sometimes prefer CBS not just for HD but for the information.

Hmm, I always thought it was in HD, looks good anyways... do we really need to see Terry Bradshaw in greater detail though?

Even though I was going to watch the Packer-Giants game on Fox, I switched over to CBS to watch NFL Today since Fox pregame is SD. It really looks SD on the wide studio shots. I do prefer Fox pregame and yeah, I wish they would get HD in the studio.

I prefer the CBS pregame show. (With the exception of Shannon Sharp)

I would prefer it to the edge enhancement

Shannon Sharp is the exact reason why I do NOT watch the CBS pregame show. What executive thought he would be a good analyst? He's so inarticulate it's not even funny, perhaps a speech impediment?

not much of a CBS fan although i love the NFL on CBS theme music.

i like FOX SPORTS BETTER. :):)

never knew that the studio cam was SD. thanks for the info.

Let's See, Pregame show in SD Widescreen, 6 HD games/wk or
Pregame show in HD, 5 HD games/wk.

I'll take the way it is now. Game action in HD is more important than the pregame. Once all the games are shown in HD, then I'll worry about the pregame show.

BTW, I was out & about Sunday & listen to the Fox pregame on Fox Sports Radio on XM. Didn't miss all that much without the picture.

My wife was getting a Manicure when we lived in Baltimore and Shannon was sitting beside her (he got a Manicure once a week when he was playing for the Ravens). It's the year they won the superbowl. He was talking to my wife and she said she couldn't understand a word he was saying. She said it's worse live than on TV. I'm thinking maybe he does have an impediment. His brother talks fine (Sterling).

I agree regarding Shannon Sharpe. He seems to be have both a speech impediment and SAD (Self Awareness Disorder).

I don't like either CBS' or FOX' pregame show (I prefer FOX of the two). NFL Primetime on ESPN is better than the other two IMO.

FYI: "Rise To Glory" by E.S. Posthumus is the CBS NFL theme song (they only use a very small portion of the song).

There's also a remix by DJ Quik (rap version) that's pretty good.

My sons are like trained mice when that song comes on they start running around tackling each other, just like the clips on the TV during the song. :)

Let's See, Pregame show in SD Widescreen, 6 HD games/wk or Pregame show in HD, 5 HD games/wk.Close, but no cigar.

FOX does up to 6 games a week in HD, ~92% of all their games, and all the studio programming in SD.

CBS does 5 or 6 games a week in HD, ~84% of all their games, and all the studio programming is HD.

Ditto for me as well! I always watch the full 2 hrs. of ESPN PT and never bother with the other 2 networks. The addition of Keyshawn and Emmit seems to have made the show even better. KJ is a natural but I think Emmit needs a little more time to get it down. Still overall the show is tops IMHO even with Ditka.

I agree, ESPN beats them both by a mile. They give you everything on Sunday Countdown, the injury reports, fantasy info, analysis on every game, etc., etc.

I watch Fox pregame for two reasons:

1) Jillian Barbarie (or Reynolds, now that she's married)
2) Frank Caliendo and his picks (I still miss Jimmy Kimmel!) - that bit during week one where Costas made a surprise appearance - funny as hell!!

For Fox that is true becuase everything coming from the studio is SD. CBS does HD highlights, however, not for every highlight.
