I have a Sony XBR960 with iLink (firewire). I just got a new Dell laptop with Vista. I've heard about all these new wonderful capabilities of the builtin Media Center. The laptop has a firewire port. The Sony has a CableCard. I already record D-VHS very nicely through the firewire port.

Can I hook up the TV directly to the laptop and record shows? Will the proper drivers be present?

If not, could I use my Mitsubishi D-VHS deck as an intermediary device and have Vista recognize it?
